It would be great to communicate with other Seniors who are trying to lose weight. I am new to RAW and very excited. Just wondering if Seniors are generally interested in RAW? And what results, etc.

So how senior are you? I started a thread a ways back for 50's and over. I will see if I can dredge it up. Had quite a few replies.

Good luck on the best journey of your life. :D

Thank you so much! I am 71 and I have just posted to the thread you sent me.

I am so interested in trying this, but just can't see myself going 100% in the near future. Just need all the encouragement and advice I can find. I have a husband and we have a social life, etc., so 100% JUST ISN'T in the cards at this time. But I really need to lose 30 pounds and I know raw is healthy. I started Monday (and this is Wednesday) and I know it is the way to go!

THANKS!

Might want to listen to some of the RawkinRadio shows for a ton of helpful adice :http://rawcast.rawkinradio.com/

and....

Veganforlife's own experience with raw and success with treating thyroid disease (I'm sure she'll be chiming in soon)

Just enjoy the journey ~ Cathy

Thanks so much. I am listening as I am here on the board! Very enlightening and encouraging. Makes me feel this is not a simple fad but something very real.

Still interested in the experiences of other seniors with RAW. Hope to hear from others also. Need lots of encouragement and informationl :)

Hi Sty!! You may want to read Natalia Rose's book called, "The Raw Food Detox Diet". It takes you through some stages to 100%raw. You can start on any stage you want. It was tremendously helpful to me. I am not 100% raw yet but I am getting closer every day. Some people can't just go from a SAD diet to 100% right off and some shouldn't. I recommend the book highly. There are some recipes (basic) and a chapter on Real Life situations such as you are worried about, ie socializing and peer pressure.

Good luck and hang in there.

Well I am 56 years old, getting up there in age. I have lost 137 lbs eating this way. But I think the best part is really how much better you feel. I would try some Green Smoothies they are easy to make and give you lots of what your body really needs. I know when I added them, It got my weightloss moving pretty good too. Just work your way into it and enjoy how much better you will start to feel. Doug in Calif...  :)
