hi all...

I am having a party soon for my sister's birthday. I was wondering if anyone had some cool recipes that would help me to devise an awesome menu? I kind of want things that are fun and funky and a little like the traditional diet - normally served would be party pies, quiches, tarts, cake, icecream, hot dogs, stuff like that.

Let's make a menu!

I was thinking of the banana-vanilla icecream... maybe with some cacao nibs for choc chips...

The ice cream's a good idea. How about guacamole and/or salsa with veggies to dip with?

This recipe came from the newspaper. We tweaked the non-raw ingredients out of it. My whole SAD-eating family loves it. I personally have gone through 3-4 batches this week. :D It goes well on avocado or just like ritz crackers (recipe on this board) or onion bread or zucchini bread or... It also freezes well.

Fresh Salsa

6 medium fresh tomatoes
1 Vidalia onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 lime
3-6 jalapenos
¾ - 1 cup sun-dried tomatoes, ground
Salt, to taste
Dash of olive oil
Fresh ground black pepper

Mix together onion and garlic. Then add juice of 1 lime. (Wear gloves) Remove seeds from jalapenos and add as many for taste preference. Finely chop jalapenos in food processor. (May add Habaneras for more heat). Add quartered tomatoes to food processor and chop to desired consistency. Add to onion mixture. Mix sun-dried tomatoes with other ingredients. Add salt, olive oil, and black pepper; stir well. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight to blend flavors. Good served on avocado. (raw vegan approved)
