What's the deal with baby carrots? I asked my dad to get me some organic carrots this evening, and he did, only they're baby ones..are they okay to eat? They just don't seem very natural to me..unless they are just harvested early. I would use them to make juice, since I have no other carrots and I can't really go out and get more because of the circumstances of my day..so..yay or nay?

What I've read is that RARELY will you find REAL baby carrots.
The ones you typically buy are cut to be that shape: they're carrots in a new shape. I only buy them for occasional snacking, because alot of the nutrition is lost without the skin/outer portion.

The one thing that bothers me about the store peeled carrots is that they are peeled using a lye solution. I realize that they are rinsed prior to bagging, but just the same......ick!

just my opiion though

They're not real baby carrots. They're just regular carrots cut down to look like babies. Would be an expensive way to make juice and I'm not sure they would give the best juice. Usually those big huge ones are the ones you use for juice. I think...

I'm addicted to baby carrots! I've always wondered how they all get cut down to be the exact same size and shape. Is it heated in any way or anything? Hmm. I didn't know about the lye...
