It is by Dad's birthday...and we got him a Cold Stone Creamery Oreo Ice Cream Cake. It's gorgeous...and I am sitting here eating my little bowl of frozen fruit. ::sigh::

I am going to have to try some of those ice cream recipies.

when i get tempted it think to myself, that food will taste good for like 5 minutes and then i will feel regret and possibly sick for the rest of the night. I usually think "as soon as im done eating that im going to regret it."

nows the time to make a raw oreo ice cream cake!

yeah..it's crazy..after i eat raw food for so long and go back and taste something that i used to love that was SAD it just doesn't taste the same anymore. it doesn't even compare to the flavor of live foods. don't do it girl!!!!

give it a little time and you will find that the good clean yummy food is more of a treat than all that crap with all those fake tastes and aftertastes and coagulation left in your throat.

My hubby had a decadent ice cream cone with a chocolate dipped waffle cone, some sick ice cream and other sprinkle type toppings, I had a pint of organic raspberries, both cost just under $5, which one tasted better to me and was more of a treat in all respects?

Start making raw ice creams, even simple ones with just a frozen fruit like strawberries or raspberries in the cuisinart, or frozen bananas with cacao and a little vanilla then put some raw almonds on top, you will see they wipe the floor with any of that commercial crap.

Or just track down some really good fruit, do you have any nearby farms with real raspberries or blueberries? They can be amazing.

Don't think of it as you missing out on the ice cream. Think of it as THEM missing out on the dynamic health that you will gain.

Dream - YES! Your haircut looks great! And well spoken words of wisdom!
Rawsurfer - that's how I make my ice cream and it does taste so much (from what I can remember) of the fake ice cream - this is the real stuff baby!

I had a woman at work today while she was picking through some kind of party mix chip thing that they had there, it had all kinds of really weird colored treats (fake orange crap) and as she was grabbing a handful say to me, "MMMMM! Don't you miss these?" I replied, "Nope, not one bit. I'll take my real orange carrots to that stuff any day!" She just smiled and went on her way. I do not miss any of that garbage. It's not real food. Raw food is real food!!!

Dont think of it how the dairy producers want you to.....it's packaged to appeal to the senses....remember what it REALLY is...what results from that sundae. What the animals went through, what was put into their feed, the poison that YOU would also be ingesting if you ate it...and just plain how UNNATURAL the whole system is.

Once you start to do that, you wont look at those foods as being "food" anymore, but some weird social experiment gone wrong.

That may sound extreme but it's the truth. Baby cows were supposed to have dairy, not human beings.

No, not extreme at all. I never feel the truth is extreme.

BTW - I bumped a thread about raw ice creams...

Easiest ice cream recipe ever:

1. Throw some frozen bananas in the VitaMix.

2. Enjoy!

Oh, also think of how yucky it'll make you feel after! That should deter you, maybe :)

It is so true that...while you are eating the SAD food or dessert it can feel good, but 5 min after you just feel dragged down & uncomfortably full. Since going raw, I have had NO desire for SAD desserts. I LOVE RAW desserts. I do crave Italian food & pizza like crazy though!! The other night I made spaghetti with a yellow squash (LOVE it) & Alissa's marinara sauce (first time I made hers) YUMMMMMM!

BTW...Cold stone was my FAVE!!!

Good for you for resisting.:) I make smoothies each morning that are like soft serve ice creams. I guess you could have a smoothie next time it's someone's birthday.

I made a smoothie the other day with some cashew milk (so creamy), frozen bananas, frozen strawberries and peaches. My family loved it.

Even though I am struggling with the whole going 100% raw thing right now, I do recognize that dairy is not good for us. It is just a few minutes of pleasure for a few days of mucous. ;)

lol, tisha...
It is just a few minutes of pleasure for a few days of mucous. well said. thats enough to turn anybody off.
i must say ice cream used to be a huuuuuuuuge weakness of mine. i had this friend for a while, and when we got depressed wed each go and get a tub of ben & jerrys  dairy is the first thing i cut out tho, well, dairy & sugar, before meat or anything, so i went through that struggle a while ago. survived on sugar-free dairy-free chocolate for a while (chocobloc with artificial sweeteners  ) raw chocolate is soooooo much better. now i make sorbet all the time but im worried about recreating ice cream, something i had so much trouble with in the past... even if it IS raw, i dont want to get hooked on it! :p
