This is so funny. This weekend I traveled 6 hours to my dad's house because he was throwing a big party at a park for my stepmother who just turned 65. Tons of food there, meat trays, rolls of various sizes, baked beans, macaroni salad, chicken wings, ham spin wheels, cheese trays, cake, etc. and there off to the side were two small trays of beautifully arrayed sandwich fixins, all raw, all intending to be used with the meat and cheese. I didn't see anything else I could eat so I ate half of one tray all by myself.
Was that selfish? Oh well.....serves them right for not buying a vege tray.

How could that be selfish? You're a raw foodist, and so you ate the raw foods they offered. Seems logical to me. In fact, I congratulate you on staying true to yourself.

Selfish probably would have stayed home because she was too worried about what foods would tempt her! Good job! I bet next time they buy 3 trays. ( :

Awesome! You didn't even have to bring your own food! That's the best...

Stacie,
Way to go. If you survived that you can survive anything from now on. No, I don't think it was selfish at all of you. You probably ate a lot less compared to everyone else.

I actually brought a large basket of fruit and all the kids (ages 1 to 18) that were at my dad's house had a field day with it even though my name was written on the handle. I didn't have the heart to tell them no and some of them looked like they could use some fruit, so I didn't say anything.

Awwwww! Very good! That just proves we CAN do raw any time, any where if we put our minds to it. Great job!

Good for you! My wife's family are meat-and-potatoes people, and after 15 years, they still don't get her vegetarianism  I have visions of a very big holiday fruit basket in my future.... ;)

A big thumbs up on RAWKIN through that feast. I had to laugh at your comment on the fruits. I think it's funny how whenever I make a nice arrangement of fruit to bring to a gathering (thinking I'll have something to munch on throughout the day) that it is devoured by everyone. I have to laugh because it's like you would think I invented fruit or something when all they have to do is buy it or grow it and enjoy it all the time and not just at special events.

Awesome and congrats!
I totally agree about the fruits thing... people rush to the fruits (especially kids) as though they had never seen them before. Sometimes I wonder, they probably haven't! People just need to get back into the habit of buying fruits for themselves on a regular basis and not just stick to the apples and bananas. (I love those too of course, but sometimes some melons and strawberries can go a long way to spruce things up!)
