Can a green smoothie be a green smoothie if it is not green?

I just made a smoothie with:

Handful of spinach
Handful of kale
Handful of romaine
Frozen blackberries
Frozen cherries
Ripe banana

But...it's not green because of the blackberries and cherries. It's delish though! :)

This is very much what I have for breakfast I just love the frozen cherries in green smoothies and yes I would also say it is still a green smoothie just a nice color change.

Haha..ok..sorry it was a dumb question..but whenever I see pictures of them...they are GREEN! :)

You haven't seen mine! Mine are sometimes gray-ish in color. But most of the time they are an emerald, dark, dark green!

Sometimes the ones I make with strawberries or a berry blend come out the lovely color of sewer sludge!:eek:

My absolute fave - though - of peaches, spinach and banana is neon green. A true "shrek shake" as VFL would call it!

LOL! Yeah, a green smoothie doesn't (IMO) have to literally be green as in color. The whole idea is to have greens in it. My kids prefer non-green green smoothies so I end up adding an abundance of strawberries or blueberries to change the color to either red or purple-ish blue.

I personally kinda "need" for my green smoothies to be green, though...but I think for me it's a mind-thing. I wanna SEE the nutritiousness! :p

Yeah, mine come out greyish/green. But when I use blueberries the blue definitely comes through loud and clear.

With spinach, blueberries, bananas and dates.......my green smoothies are always brown. ;)

Oh I come up with all kinds of colors depending on what I put in there. But there are always greens in there too. Doug in Calif...:cool:
