Ok, I believe this is my first post, I have been a lurker for sometime.
I have a few simple questions I think.
Currently I commute to work about 1hr each way. I want to make some green smoothies in the morning to have after my workout (@ lunchtime). How long, if kept cold will the smoothies keep?
Are there any negative affects in making a smoothie and not eating it for hours?
Has anyone frozen a green smoothie and thawed for consumption? Does it tasteok after thawed?
Thank so much,
BigDadda

Hey bigdadda! Welcome!
GS's will last max. three days. I make mine and drink right away.
I've never frozen one, but I'm thinking it would be fine.
Get Victoria Boutenko's book, "Green for Life" it will answer lots of GS questions.
Hello!
I heard an interview with Victoria Buetenco once and I remember she said that a green smoothie can keep all day, but all juices is best to drink at once, or they will loose some of their vitamins.

My own personal rule is 24 hours, though I'm sure three days would be fine. Just make sure you stir or shake it up after it's been sitting for a while, the smoothie will separate and get all clumpy and gelatinously nasty on top. LOL

I find that blueberries make it thicken up really fast. Just shake them up and you'll be fine!

I've done green smoothies for three days of camping with them sitting in a cooler of ice and was pleasantly surprized that they stood up fine. I was so tuned in with nature thanks to those green smoothies@

Victoria Boutenko's book, "Green for Life" says the smoothie will keep for two days in the fridge. Freezing them sounds like a good idea. Yeah, you might lose some nutrients, but the benefit of having a green smoothie on would hand out weight that.
I make smoothies in the afternoon if I need to get up really early and don't want to run my very loud blender in the AM. Never thought of freezing half to carry with me if I won't be home later in the day. It would probably be perfect in the afternoon. Thawed and cool.

You'll find an interview with Victoria here: http://rawfood.revvell.com/. Just scroll down. She does say it will last 3 days kept cold.
