Hi Everyone,

You all have been such a wonderful resource on this new journey of mine and I cannot thank you enough. I absolutley LOVE this site and my new raw food journey. Alissa's advice is terrific. I have two quick questions.

First, I am getting confused by all the reading I am doing. I have decided to just stick with what resonates best with me while not in any way condemning other's philosophies. Having said that, have you all lost weight using these DELICIOUS recipes? I am confused about eating recipes that call for ingredients such as almonds, avocados, dates etc. I have gone 100% raw and other than coming off a caffeine and sugar addiction, I feel great. I realize this is a lifestyle and NOT a diet, however I still would love to lose weight. I am drinking frut smootheis for breakfast, a large salad for lunch or one of the recipes and a recipe for dinner. I feel really satisfied, however can this be really true?.......Eating (not overeating) these delicious recipes and still lose weight?

Secondly, do I need B12 and how much if I am eating all raw?

Thank you for the wonderful blessing of your encouragement and knowledge. You all are such an inspiration!

Hi!
I take b-12 but did so even before going raw just one capsule.

Yes you can lose weight eating avacado, nuts and coconut! Yesterday I made raw carrot cake that was so good! The thing is our bodies need fat...the good kind found in olive oil, and the items mentioned above.

They help our organs, skin, hair, etc. and help us to feel full. I wouldn't overdo it, but I certainly wouldn't avoid eating them.

Good luck to you, and good for you for doing this amazingly healthy thing for yourself! You'll find what works for you.

Please don't tell us about your lovely carrot cake and not give us the recipe:)
No keeping good things to ourselves now:)

I don't make a whole lot of recipes only because I have a lot of weight to lose and I feel that it would only slow it down if I went gourmet. As it is, I am eating mostly fruit, veges and avocados a couple of times a week and I am not really losing all that much. Some people say 80-10-10 is the way to go, others say you need to eat fat to lose fat. I just think every body is different and you need to find what works for you. It's going to be trial and error. Fitday.com helps me track what I am eating and my exercise so I can analyze my regimen and make necessary changes.
