Hi everyone, my name is Joanna. I am new to the site, recently started cooking some of the great recipes from Alissa's book and DVD! I may have Hashimoto's thyriod -- (I am hypothyroid but Dr. thinks may be Hashimoto's --tests will tell soon). I understand that is autoimmune. Anyone have luck in controlling/reducing autoimmune stuff through raw? I know I feel so much better since I have committed to raw in the past few weeks. This site seems great! I appreciate any feedback, don't like the idea of medication forever...

Hey JoannaG - welcome! Read my testimony down at my signature. I would start increasing green smoothies into your diet. Also sea veggies. I KNOW (as surely as I know my name) that these helped. I use Alissa's green food powder and spirulina in my smoothies. I put in a heaping tablespoon, but I don't recommend anyone starting out to do this. Start out with a little, then gradually work your way up. I KNOW I healed my hypothyroidism with raw. Anyway - read my testimony and feel free to e-mail me with any questions.

Just curious Lucy, but were you intially dx with hashimoto's? My oldest has it. I'd e-mail you, but think I may be on your blocked address list. ~ Cathy

No - not Hasimoto's. That's where they thyroid actually acts against the body, correct?
And no, you shouldn't be blocked.

Thanks, I will read your posts! I guess what would help hypo should help hashimoto's since they both present with hypo readings. My doctor does not feel hashimoto's is reversible, it's when your body attacks your own thyroid and ultimately destroys it, but perhaps a pure diet would slow down or prevent that attack-- that's what I am hoping!
