Would it be possible to start a thread on healing teeth through raw food?
I'm not just referring to preventing the problems that some associate with raw, but I think it would be good to perhaps gather some information here on going much further, particularly for those of us who already have severe teeth problems. I'm thinking along the lines of reversing decay, healing chipped teeth, regrowing lost teeth, filling falling out and the tooth reforming to its natural shape. Radical stuff like that. It's hard to find information on how to do those things. I think it would be beneficial to gather good information on that into one spot for easier learning.

I re-grew a chipped tooth I had since I was a kid. Took me less then 6 months all raw, eating lots of greens not much fruit. I have fillings falling out now and I can feel my tooth growing back in. I also had a good chunk of actual tooth break off around a filling that was REALLY sensitive for months I couldn't eat anything on that side, now it's fine unless I eat really sharp stuff that pokes in there! I am confident it will grow back too.

That's some impressive testimony. What do you eat instead of fruit? Actually, what do you eat period, and how do you take care of your teeth?
Hi!
I have a pretty amazing teeth story as well!
Since I lost my babyteeth I had all the others grow in - exept for one!
It just wouldn't - they took xrays and they could see it, sort of "sleeping" in my jaw. (It was one of my lower "side-teeth" - so luckily you didn't really notice unless I smiled really wide)
It had no roots and was completely small and round.
It was like that for 7 years or so...
then - after going raw I could feel something pushing and "pop" - one month after: It was up. Now it's allmost as ougrown as the rest of the teeth - and the dentist told me I would need to get a false tooth or a surgery - pfffft!!

Alba that is so cool!!! :D My dentists in the past always wanted to fix my tooth but I never did because it was only cosmetic & I hate dentists!
I didn't NOT eat fruit, I just preferred salads & green juices over fruits & smoothies & stuff. I still ate plenty avos, cukes, tomatoes etc I just never really liked sweet fruit until lately.
Oh I forgot to mention I had a cavity years ago that healed on it's own without even being raw.

I had gingivitus (spelled wrong) but you get the picture, my bottom teeth were hurting and i am too nervous to go to the dentist.
Since i've done the oil pulling the pain has gone away it seems that the alignment of my mouth is straighter than it was.
I'm also looking forward to my teeth becoming white too.

I guess I'm looking for some direction.
I usually eat a green smoothie, usually with a banana and about 5-6 oz of berries for breakfast, but at lunch and dinner I struggle to find good raw foods. I'd like to try to avoid fruit completely apart from the smoothies. But I don't really know of any good salads to make and how I could possibly get enough food without consuming a lot of fruit, or going broke.
What could I eat in a typical day?
How do you take care of your teeth? I brush with toothsoap, floss, and have started oil pulling.

Wow! I'm so glad you started this thread. A couple of you had some seriously impressive stories! I've been high Raw and hearing that makes me want to go wholly Raw, so thanks for the inspiration.
In the book Green for Life, Victoria Boutenko talks about teeth repairing themselves. I didn't know what to make of it at the time. She talks about crooked teeth aligning themselves!
I'll flip through the book tonight and see if I can find that passage.
About a year and a half ago, I ordered a whole pound of horsetail tea and didn't use it. I've gotten into the habit of brewing the herbal tea, not Raw, I know, and using it as a base for my green smoothies. I had read in the book Healing with Whole Foods about a woman who had minor cavities clear up from drinking the tea, so I thought it was worth a try. I've definitely got some aching teeth at the ago of 35 and haven't been to a dentist for an extended period of time. So it's nice to hear some positive stories about the Raw lifestyle. thanks my raw friends!:)

A good place to start getting some good information on caring for teeth holistically:
"Good Teeth Birth To Death: The prescription for perfect teeth " by :Dr. Gerard F. Judd (Proffessor, Chemist , and Researcher)
He talks about how most toothpaste has glycerin in it, and that coats the teeth, thus not enabling it to re-enamelize. Rinsing with water during and after meals to keep acids from hurting the teeth. Flossing. Eating highly mineralized food. And then he has certain recommendations supplementation wise to prevent or reverse gum disease, and also just for overall health of our teeth.
I've been following what I read in his book since Feb., and have been having "no issues" with my teeth which is a big deal for me. My teeth are squeeky clean....seriously.

This IS really, truly amazing.
I had some cavities and some fillings that comletely removed themselves and in their place was new enamel...no more fillings or cavities......
I think the main thing that helped me were the green smoothies. Lots of greens, and a positive attitude.
I also replaced refined and cooked sugars with stevia and agave.

Do you mean that the fillings were actually pushed out by the new growth? Did they fall out into your mouth? How much of the new growth had been accomplished when the old fillings came off?

Say someone wanted to eat raw with improving their teeth as the number one goal. What would a good raw diet be for such a person (me)? The only kitchen equipment I have is a blender and a dehydrator (which I almost never use). I'm not a cook, nor do I want to spend any more time than necessary preparing food. Smoothies are good in that regard.
I think I have breakfast down pat. I usually have a smoothie with a banana, ~ 5oz frozen raspberries or strawberries and about 4-6 Kale leaves and 1 TBSP Flax Seeds and 1 TBSP Cacao Nibs, and 1/2 tsp MSM. I might have a tablespoon of Vitamineral Green before that with some water and more MSM. That holds me over until lunch. Lunch and dinner are harder to find good things for.
I also usually bring dates with me places in case I get hungry, but those probably aren't good for my teeth.

SuperGreen, I would up your greens in your green smoothies to around 2 big bunches of greens a day. I think in order to heal it is actually more important what you leave out of your diet then what you actually consume.

Ah, so you mean actually sticking to the raw food lifestyle? How insightful  That was sarcasm, but entirely directed at myself. I've wondered before if I could just stick to this for a while if things would start getting better just for the reason you mentioned - no junk food. I splurge pretty often in the evenings, and at work, mostly because I get tired and slow witted (from being tired).
So how do you actually get in 2 big bunches? That would require eating almost nothing but smoothies it seems. Maybe that's the idea. And how big is a bunch anyway? Those 5oz plastic tubs are obviously not ideal(expensive!) but would that count as a bunch? I can put about 6 big leaves of kale max in a smoothie with two servings of fruit. How much of a bunch is 6 medium leaves of kale? Based on the bunches of kale I get I'd say that it's about 1/2 to 2/3 of a bunch. But it's hard to find good organic greens here too. Kale is about the only green that arrives in decent shape. The rest is almost always pretty wilted. But sometimes with kale even on the first day it is in the store is might have a few flimsy leaves in every bunch. I might go back to ordering online from diamond organics and shipping across the country. It's expensive, but I might have to. I did that before I knew about green smoothies. Now I would actually have something to do with all those greens they offer.
On a related note, how would one keep greens fresh for a week in the fridge? Mine usually go bad pretty quickly. I need to have a way to ensure the greens stay fresh if I'm going to pay for the shipped greens.
I'm curious, how much are people paying for their organic greens?

How would one consume 2 big bunches of greens without consuming a lot of fruit?

Remember that not all fruits are sugary & high glycemic. Tomatos and cucumbers are fruits for example. I ususally use banana as the base and I only use one or 2 for each smoothie. I try to use only as much as I have to to make the greens palateable.
I get my greens organic at WFM for a dollar something a bunch. You can also grow dandilion or spinach etc to save money & also get more nutrition!
Six medium leaves of kale is almost a third of the bunches I buy I think

You have any recipes for smoothies like that?
Also, I usually have to use kale or collards, as those are the greens that are usually available.
What else should I eat? I'm having a hell of a time sticking to raw while trying to avoid fruit. Maybe I'm just addicted to the processed foods.

right now! My daughter is undergoing dental surgery in September because 14 of her 20 teeth have caries, some of which go into the nerve and pulp of the tooth. I feel terrible as a mother, but I was doing what I thought I needed to be. Granted, continuing to nurse my preschooler at night probably hasn't helped her teeth any, but we did brush regularly and I always called the dentist if I had a question.
Anyway, they're going to do reconstruction on the teeth that need it (a different dentist than our regular guy), and I'm really wanting to get the rest of the junk food out of the house and start feeding the kids a little better. Not that we've been eating terribly, not by a long shot compared to modern American standards, but I know we can do better.
My teeth are also in trouble. Receding gumline, pain and sensitivity, and I have signs of the beginning stages of demineralization. Terrifying. I have had nightmares as an adult about breaking or losing my teeth, and other than my weight it's probably the one issue I'm the most sensitive about.
Would be great if we could make this a permanent thread!!

here are two very good products that restored my teeth in an awesome way -- beginning stages of gingivitis, and sensitive gums from poor flossing.
Dr Christopher's Tooth and Gum powder
Vitamyr toothpaste and mouthwash.
They are both herbal products and they are amazing!
www.vitamyr.com and i think you may find the Dr. Christopher line at your local health food store -- otherwise look for it online.
Also make sure that the cavities are filled with ceramic/porcelain fills if you can afford it. the "silver" fillings are actually part mercury and slow toxicity effects may appear when you have metal fillings for a long period.
for now, try to use goldenseal powder and sea salt to brush the teeth and help the gums heal.
Blessings,

I'm only 15 and would like to keep as many teeth as i can i'm hoping the filled ones will regrow to.
I'm going to start drinking green smoothies again hopefully 2 quarts a day though i might not be able to afford that many greens so i'll just pick as many as i can wild and hope i can get enough for at least a quart a day.

Hi there my friend- just a couple of quick suggestions:)
- drink pure water, no fluoride, ironically, and if you're not convinced, read The Fluoride Deception
- eat seaweed for the minerals
- don't use any products that have glycerine; it prevents the teeth from sealing themselves with enamal.
- do some visualization exercises; I picture sunshine beaming into my teeth and gums when I'm meditating and can activate a tingling sensation. ;)

My thoughts on this....
The #1 goal with healing the teeth is MINERALIZING the body. That includes so much of what you are NOT eating, as well as what you are. If I were eating a high mineral diet I would want to eat,
-100% organic
-Greens! Like you are already consuming :)
-Seaweed, daily
-Green powders (start low, and increase to several tablespoons a day)
-vegetable fruits
-fruits in moderation
-as much (if not all) blended food (you want to be absorbing as much as possible)
the idea is to eat as much food with all their minerals in tact as possible. a banana would not be an example of this because it doesn't have a balance of minerals, thus the body has to supplement from reserves.
def no dried fruit on the teeth, and rinsing after meals is great.
hygiene is also super important! (I think it's the #1 thing, and diet is #2)
visualization as well. I was told that I had to have my wisdom teeth removed, and I visualized them coming in perfectly every night as I was going to bed, and they came in perfectly straight with enough room too!
happy healing :)

These are at the bottom and they were very painful but since i started "oil pulling" which there is a thread on this forum about it, i've not had anymore pain in my gum area and an old abcess has gotten much smaller.
My teeth are tighter now and getting whiter.
Today is day#7 and the fear over my teeth is slowly going away, i don't fear eating corn on the cob trying to avoid my bottom teeth:) anymore.
I don't like dentist but i think i will go to one before the year is out just to see what miracles have taken place with my teeth and gums:)

i too hope that this becomes a permanent thread!!
i was born with an underbite and so from the ages of 7-17ish i went to an orthodontist, had braces, headgear, appliances--- you name it! the good result of this (besides ending up with very straight teeth) is that i learned very good oral hygiene from a young age. i was always very good about flossing, brushing etc, ive NEVER had a cavity and my teeth were always very white and strong.
ive been raw for 10 weeks now (today :D ) and started using natural flouride-free toothpaste around the same time.
for about a week ive had a very sensitive tooth, right at the back, down tby the gumline. i can eat and everything put if i poke it with my nail or anything it send a shooting pain down.
ive stopped using my natural toothpaste since discovering glycerin is bad for your teeth (about a week ago) and have been brushing with baking soda. last night i noticed the pain had started in the tooth behind that one as well, my vary back one. last night i brushed and swished with diluted hydrogen peroxide as recommended by david wolfe.
i eat LOADS of sea veggies, mmm, daily. i guess i eat a fair amount of fruit. i usually have a big salad everyday and a couple of handfuls of greens in my smoothie. i guess i probably need more greens, especially blended... i used to put in more but then i started feeling really nauseous at the thought of green smoothies so i lowered it again and started more salads.
im really wanting to get some PH strips as i think it maybe because my saliva is too acidic at this point, because i know im still detoxing, i havent been raw for that long. i also sometimes get canker sores, arent those the result of acidity in the mouth?
anyways if thats the case then i know eventually my body will balance out and my saliva will be properly neutral... but until then i want to be very proactive about my teeth.
any suggestions? are baking soda/hydrogen peroxide good; has anyone tried them with good results? im trying to swish after meals.
could my body be detoxing all the metal i used to have in my mouth? (retainers, braces, appliances...)
whew. sorry for the long post. but yeah, excellent thread. teeth are so important.

Someone mentioned hygiene as of supreme importance. That must be true because many people I know eat lots of junk but still have good teeth. One in particular eats a lot of sugar, but he has excellent hygiene. I think he even said he is a compulsive brusher, but he has never had any cavities. Some people are immune to cavities though. I don't know how that works, but that's what I've read.
Anyway, what should we do when brushing is not convenient? I don't want to be carrying a toothbrush with me whenever I go out, but I guess I should be willing to make that sacrifice. Is it even a good idea to brush after every time you eat? Would brushing that often wear away your enamel? Is that even possible? Should you floss after every meal too?
Maybe it should go like this:
Meal>Rinse>Brush>Floss>Rinse
What about snacks. Should you brush after every time you eat(or drink(aside from water))ANYTHING, or just rinse with water?

A couple of more thoughts.....Victoria Boutenko recommends a dental device which basically sounded like a ball that you chew on to strengthen the oral cavity bone. We're designed to do some serious chewing but don't with the modern diet and blenders.
Sally Fallon links protein intake with lack of dental caries, but not from a perspective we agree on; she's a big meat proponent. Hopefully we should get all the amino acids we need by seriously rotating greens in our diet. Afterall there are Olympic body builders and marathon runners who are strictly raw.

I could be that eating lots of protein from meat generally means eating less sweets, and that, not the protein is what helps the teeth.
For me, I'll eat anything as long as it brings health. I'll probably be eating a few raw eggs along the way - you could say, just in case.

stina.... do you buy the horsetail tea or just pick some yourself and infuse it? would you need to dry it first???
cheers :)

I now know what the plant looks like but don't know what time of the year would be ideal to harvest it. Ah well, I go raw this year; next year I'll learn more wildcrafting.
So, my method may be dubious by some raw purist's standards; I either make herbal tea the standard heat-induced conconction or do it out in the sun in a jar.:)
Gee, I'm just south of you several hundred miles!

I was listening to Revvell's fantastic interview with David Wolfe and finally heard a valid theory on why so many raw food eater's have problems with their teeth. This is so fascinating.
I agree with him that we live in an extremely toxic environment. And most people just store up the toxins that slowly kill them. But eating a primarily raw food diet will start to let loose all of those stored toxins back into the system. And since most of us are deficient in minerals and that's what it takes to buffer toxins being re-circulated in the system, our body will suck them out of teeth and bones in the process. Hence, so many of us having undue dental problems. Not from lack of animal protein, which I feared after reading Sally Fallon's Nourishing Traditions.
So, considering, these are my suggestions to help with this problem.
- organic produce has significantly more minerals
- a variety of dark, leafy greens (of course)
- and sea vegetables, very absorbable form of minerals
I'm getting back in the habit of just stirring up a teaspoon of kelp in water and swishing it around in my mouth and swallowing it down.

I think the greens and sea vegetables are bone building. Someone said that spinach has the oxalic acid and phyt - something that prevents absorption of the calcium and magnesium but I don't wish to believe that. I love my spinach and hope that my green smoothies will help rebuild my bone and teeth. I believe it is working because my teeth felt so weak that I thought if I bit into something hard they would chip and they are starting to feel stronger.
I had a serious problem with greens getting stuck around my teeth and needing to floss to get them out. If I couldn't get it out I would get an inflamed pocket in my gum. I started drinking Liquid Chlorophyl a few days ago and already my gums have tightened up! I was sceptical because it cannot be raw if it is in a bottle but it is detoxing me also! I can eat greens with no problem now.

Yeah, eating almonds in particular can be like gravel in the gums. How about stringy mango? Ah, at least it makes me floss.
Hey, I switched to the natural bristle tooth brush and I'm very pleased with it. Plus, I gave up on any natural products that contain glycerine and my teeth feel better.

Shoney, please don't beat yourself up. I also nursed each of my children for years. All of them had great teeth until my 6th came along. The enamel on his teeth just didn't form properly. He had many places that needed to be "filled". His front 4 upper teeth actually had the texture of an orange peel!! I hope that you find this a bit of a comfort--his permanent teeth are growing in strong and beautiful! Best wishes.

I apologize for bumping up this thread. Any suggestions on in between getting your teeth fixed in helping the bad breath smell? I am in the process of getting dental work, and noticed every time they pull a tooth it has a bad smell. So I can only imagine what is going on inside.

Hey Portia- never apologize for bumping up a thread.:) And this is an important thread.
Greens, especially in the form of green smoothies or green lemonade or shots of wheat grass juice, will help that. Good to see you around the board

i completely belive david wolfes theory. i pretty much agree with everything he says, i think hes brilliant. they say to take health advice from someone whos getting the results you want.... well-- i take his advice! lol! but the teeth theory makes so much sense, when you think about it. and i know my teeth feel better when im getting a higher greens/mineral intake. this is good info for me to know as i know im still detoxing AND i know ive a lot more to come ;) aint it a grand journey? ;)

Yeah, it's challenging for me to always keep my sea vegetable intake up. I hated seaweed the first time I ever tried it, thought it was all slimey and fishy and disgusting, but my old hippy friend told me it's so important and to keep trying it. Some of the best advice I ever got! And he was right. Now I incorporate it into my diet several times a week, but my goal is to have a good-sized portion every day, as my intuition feels like I really need it. I suspect my innards are a toxic-waste dump.

i guess im lucky that its one of my favourite foods. i mean, a STAPLE. i eat it everyday. what kinds are you eating? bull kelp is my favourite. dulse it too limp and arame kind of flavourless and macro kelp is more gelatinous. nori is brilliant for wraps and BULL KELP, mm, is super salty which i love, and more crispy/not as gushy, lol. that said, really, i love them all. HAHA.
i also put algaes in my smoothies (spirulina/chlorella)
i did this when first going raw and then somehow dropped all greens, couldnt stomach them, no smoothies or salads, (although i was still eating seaweed) and the teeth trouble started. the sensitivities are still there *worried* but not getting worse.
i need to jump on the wheatgrass wagon. LOL.

Hello everyone.
I love this thread. My husband, Bob, has bad teeth and hates going to the dentist. He asked me the other week if there was anything that could help his teeth and so I searched. I, also, bought my first natural toothpaste, but now I've read this site, I looked at the 'ingredients' and found that it has vegetable glycerine in it. I have used bicarbonate of soda and I have decided not to use the toothpaste and to go back to using the bicarb. Bob doesn't like the raw greens or lettuce. He will eat raw spinach. I think I will try putting a banana with the greens to see what it tastes like. I hope I can find a way of getting raw greens into him. Now that winter is here, I have bought two jars of dried barley grass juice powder. I will take that until the spring when I can grow my own again.
You all sound very friendly and helpful and I am basically shy and afraid of people laughing at me. I have difficulty 'joining in'.
I will have to work on it.

Sunshine9, that is SUCH great advice. I have heard that too. However it's time to implement that into action.
Since going raw, I've been diagonsed with 12 cavities! :(
The Dentist said it's the fruit, because I eat fruit mainly, and munch on it all day long. Guess I gotta stop that.
It would be nice to heal my teeth instead of paying the Dentist 7,000.00 to fix mine, but I can't wait for that or I'll loose my teeth.
Going to follow Sushine9 ideas and some other peoples ideas here and thank you for this thread SO much as I am referring to remind me.

I guess greens and seaweeds (which are kind of like greens) are the types of foods we need to focus on. I'd like to heal my teeth also, I had 11 cavities as a child, my dad had them switched to porcelain when I was 16 and then had my teeth covered with a sealant (VERY toxic stuff plus it's kind of like permanent glycerin) to "prevent" further cavities. The dentist said that it lasts 10 years (so that's passed), but my teeth have been VERY sensitive since and may have a few more small cavities. I don't know as I haven't seen a dentist since then (so 12 years ago) but haven't felt a need. I've recently switched to a natural bristles brush, it is better. I checked my natural toothpaste and it does have glyverin so I'll be stopping that. I've heard of some type of thing to use to "clean" the teeth. It looks like some sort of big tooth pick or something and it uses water going in a quick action to clean the teeth from deep down. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

An excellent way to improve dental health is to go for cleanings every 3 months (instead of the normal 6 month intervals). That way, the teeth stay cleaner & any problems are caught early.
Also, I recommend reading this book (400 pages, but worth it):
Columbia University School Of Dental And Oral Surgery's Guide To Family Dental Care
http://www.amazon.com/Columbia-University-School-Dental-Surgerys/dp/0393040364
It'll be the best $1 ever spent. Includes lots of eating tips + everything that you ever wanted to know about the teeth & gums.

I broke my tooth 15 days ago, its a small fracture (i mean 10% of the whole tooth). Is it possible to make it grow back using a toothpaste without glycerin and fluoride? What more can i do? My dentist has put a fillin of composite resin on my tooth to make it invisible, but ill do everything to make it grow back!
This is the picture of my chipped tooth, it is marked in red, so you guys can see the size of the lesion.

I haven't read the whole thread so forgive me if this has been discussed already.
I've been having a problem with sensitivity at the gumline of some of my teeth. I've stopped glycerin tooth product for a while now (I use only baking soda and apple cider vinegar). It started after the Master Cleanse (during which I was using the glycerin products. I was also rinsing well after every lemonade). Now I consume a lot of fruit because I'm considering going 80/10/10. It does seem to be not as bas as before. I usually have a big salad at night.
What I'm really interested in is someone's testimonial on eating primarily fruit and alleviating teeth issues / not having bad teeth.
My theory is that by using glycerin for years, my teeth couldn't rebuild their exterior. Now that the glycerin coating is gone, I feel the sensitivity of the tooth beneath. It doesn't hurt unless I touch it with my nail. Otherwise I don't feel it. I think I just need to wait for it to rebuilt itself but I'd like some reassurance that I can do this eating mostly fruit. I do NOT believe that fruit on the teeth will wear it down. I've seen to many things that say otherwise. Also, it has NOT gotten worse since eating more fruit.. maybe a little better or no change at all.
A holistic dentist told me I needed a bond to replace what wasn't there anymore. I believe I can rebuild it, and thus don't need a bond.

Wow, This thread has inspired me to make a new account and tell everyone Im going raw.
Ive just ordered a hand manual juicer, and for breakfast I will have vegetable juice conisting of juiced cucumbers with some chlorella, an organic raw egg and some cod liver oil.
For lunch i will have some goji berries and cacao beans,
For a snack, instead of sugary hot chocolate I will have raw chocolate powder with coconut oil.
For dinner, some more vegetable juice, consisting of celery and other vegetables.
I will cut out all un natural shampoos, conditioners, washing up powders, cleaning products, paints and other toxic things in my house. The only animals products I will consume will be fish oils and raw eggs so I dont risk not getting the animal vitamins like a lot of vegans do. And maybe some whey protein from grass fed cows from mercola.com.
I will also exercise one hour a day on a rebounder.
I currently wear glasses so I will go on the 'restore vision naturally' program by greg marsh.
Im passionate about rebuilding my teeth health as they have caused me severe problems in the past and sadness because I lost so many to sugary foods.

I have the same problems when I was raw 2 times, and problems started after approx 6 month on being raw, the enamel was practically chipping off also from my front teeths and also from other teeth especially where teeth meets gums
that is the reason I stopped eating raw diet, now I drink smoothies all the time so I am about 50 50 I think.
I think that teeth are reacting to acidic fruit, tha you eat all the time, and enamel just chiops off. I mean most of the fruits I like are acidic like oranges, pineapple, kivi, I never drank lemon at all.
I was really dissapointed because I failed 2 times. I really dont know how to continue. People were saying eat more green smoothies but will that really help. What os there beside oranges and kivi and pineapple. THose are most popular fruits in Europe where I live.
I am really sad because I did not want to take ill effect on my teeth. Basically I would have to have all my teeth covered with fake porcelain.
My front teth had small holes, tiny holes and the dentist just drilled them away with laser. But eventually the holes would beciome deeper and deeper.
SO I stopped
Regarding fluoride I never use toothpaste with fluoride, I even used baking soda powder and that woman that is promoting that tooth soap, I think her teeth are fake, she must have veneers if you ask me.
I posted that on her youtube and she deleted it right away

Oh this thread is GREAT!!!!!!
I'm trying to up my son's green smoothie/mineral intake to help heal his teeth.
We have flouridated water in these parts and his teeth have a few white discolourations on them and they look slightly yellow. I'm hoping to help with this, and to ensure that there are no future problems by supermineralising him.
He has no problems with the smoothies, and likes nori seaweed sheets (though he much prefers the roasted ones, but at least it's something).
I'm going to start adding a little dulse to his green smoothies and hope he doesn't taste it. Plus increase the amount of leafy greens that go into smoothies.
I'll also decrease his fruit intake as he does eat quite a large amount. I'll sub some of the acid fruits for sub and non acid ones too.
Has anyone had any experience with oil pulling for children? I'll read up on this and see if I can also incorporate this into his regime.
The problem is that I only have control over part of my son's diet, as his father feeds him not so good stuff when he is looking after him. Sigh... I'll just have to try and make the food I feed him count, and try and get his father to 'see the light'.
Thanks for bumping this thread! :D

Dentists are some of the biggest menaces around. First they give you unnecessary treatments, then the treatment messes up your mouth or makes you sick, then they deny the problems are anything to do with dentistry. Thus people with mercury poisioning or lingering tooth/jaw infections or pain are shunted around from Dentists to Doctors to neurologists to shrinks until they find a enlightened dentist or doctor who are willing to go against the official lines.
I hadn't been to a dentist for several years, when to one and mentioned a slight sensitivity occasionally on one tooth. Xray showed a 'big cavity' apparently. Big mercury filling. Two weeks later - massive abscess.
This got root canalled, retreated and has been slightly odd-feeling ever since and I'm now off to a biological dentist to get it checked out. Root canals often turn out to be abscessed long after, even if xrays look okay and many biological dentists maintain no 'dead teeth' (and that includes root canals) should be in your mouth.
Ultimately I'm sure I'd have had a healthy, healed-up tooth if I'd gone raw and never visited that dentist. I could lose a tooth and have a gap. My only other two fillings happened when i was about 13 or 14 and I have good dentition so I really shouldn't be losing a molar. If i do, I'll see how i am without the tooth and if I really want the gap filled get a highly biocompatible non-metal inlay bridge.
Once I mentioned to a dentist that I had brown marks down my two front teeth. This was decay that had 'remineralized' but to get rid of the stains I'd need fillings and/or veneers. These have vanished since going raw (six months) after being there for years.
Here's the biggies in a nutshell
Mercury fillings: Poison. Banned in advanced healthcare nations like Sweden, german and Denmark. The Swedes will even pay citizen 70% of the cost to get the mercury out of your teeth. Canada says pregnant women should not have mercury placed or taken out. Likely the cause for many people of many of the 'sick and tired' mystery illnesses - CFS, anxiety/depression, etc.
Root canals: Bad on several levels. First, since I got mine, I l've found out so many friends and aquaintances had had problems with theirs - infection remained, expensive retreatment by specialist, within a year or two hurting again, or broken or fractured, pulled. Massive amount of money for something dentists say is 95% successful. That figure has to be a plucked-from-the-air lie. Biological dentists point to the fact that any dead tooth is full of toxic bacteria as dentine is made of tiny tubes designed to be fed by the body in a living tooth - some will still do them but will spend more time of disinfecting the tooth than a typical dentist. If I had my tooth problem over again, I'd have had the tooth pulled at the first sign of abscess.
Implants: Menace of the future. Sounds good in theory as you don't need to harm nearby teeth to fill the gaps. However, drilling into the jaw is massively invasive and there's a risk of bone injury or infection and possible permanent nerve damage. Failing implants leave big gaps and often need bone grafts to put right. Plus, most implants are titanium and many people are against metal in their heads these days, especially as the bioelectrical aspect of the body becomes better understood.

I don't know what to do about my situation. I see a dentist on Monday after several years of being M. I. A. She's very nice but still she is a traditional dentist. The tooth is all the way in the back and I'm scared that she's going to recommend surgery to have it cut out because of the way that it broke off. It was actually a tooth that had been treated with a mercury filling when I was a teen. Looking at it now, I'm like "did he have to do all that digging and place such a big hole in my tooth to get the cavity." Now that filling is slowly falling out and that I think that is what has contributed to my infection and almost two weeks of mind numbing pain that keep me up and night because of the undeniable pain. I'm also worried about the abcess leaking poisons and doing damage to other parts of my system so I decided to go to the dentist to see what could be done. I did allow the pain to get to me and submitted to taking penicillin for the past 10 days. In the past, I've been able to do an echinacea/golden seal type of herbal treatment and stop the pain and infection dead in its tracks (didn't have a single effect) I'm all out the antibiotic now and still have this pain which scares me because it makes me think I've got major infection running around that 500 milligrams of penicillin every 8 hours for the past 10 days couldn't tackle. So far, oil pulling has only provided some very minimal relief. Okay, as long as I'm on my tooth vent the one last concern is cost...The trip to the dentist and future trips will be a big hit on an already "frail" budget. I thought I'd share my tooth experience here and will keep everyone posted. I'm glad you guys posted. I'm researching natural healing method.

I've had a tooth replaced in the front because of damage done years ago, was playing with a child and got hit in the mouth with a heavy object.
Didn't know until years later that the tooth had a break in it until it fell out:eek:
Everything went well but now i have to get two filling because of cavaties, is there anyway i can take care of these with herbs?
I'm still not crazy about going to the dentist but the one that did the work was very gentle with me and knew what he was doing.
That made it much better for me:D
