Wondering how many people practice food combining. I have been raw for the past 3wks and am LOVING it. I just notice that combining raw nuts with anything (i.e., fruit) seems to upset my stomach. Does anyone else have this problem?

but i know that when i combine fruits or more even dried fruits my stomach goes...weird :)
though i havent got alissas book yet so im trying not to think about combining at all because i dont know what she says about it... so im just trying to enjoy myself 100% raw for the past 13 days ...and hopefully get the book in a few months...

Yes I have the very same problem, as soon as I eat nuts and seeds with fruit or starch then I get a really bad tummy ache. I can also feel that even if I dont eat them (the nuts) in the same meal as fruit I can still get a tummy ache if they are eaten in a few hours time from each other.
But I think this is very individual and some of us are just simply a bit more sensistive to food combining, especially those of us (myself included) who suffer from IBS. I know many people who can combine food in just about any way without having any downsides so I think you have to decide for yourself what makes your body feel good.

Fruit should be eaten alone as it digests quickly, if you combine it with nuts which take a lot longer to digest, your gonna have bloating/gas, etc. So just eat fruit and wait 45 minutes before eating things like nuts/dried fruits. Also melon digests quicker than other fruits, so eat melon alone & wait about 30 minutes before eating anything else. That's pretty much all there is to it in my opinion. :) Hope that helps you some.

Thank you all for your responses. I think I will keep my nuts separate from anything else I eat.

Hi Danika -
I have been able to combine sprouted nuts/seeds with soaked dried fruit without problems.
Don't spend much time on combining per se.
I've noticed problems with nuts (not feeling as vibrant after consuming them) so I've curtailed my consumption.
I like to eat stuff that isn't packaged. Since most of the nuts I find (even the raw ones) come packaged, I have my doubts on whether they are really raw.
peace.
