Hello, I'm am interested in going raw but I live on a tiny island with no raw tutors available. I am considering buying Alissa's book and DVD and am wondering if that will substitute for taking the Raw Food Chef Class I? Can anyone tell me more about the difference between Alissa's book and the Raw Food Chef Class? Also, can anyone tell me what equipment I will need to start out with? Is the Magic Bullet a good choice??

You should definately buy Alissas book and dvd, they are truly amazing!
They will give you all the information you need to get started.
When it comes to equipments i think that a food processor and/or a blender is very helpful. You can also buy a dehydrator if you think you can afford it, otherwise you will manage just fine without it in the beginning.
I hope everything works out great for you

hi, i haven't been to a raw class, but people who have been on one says its really great. As regards Alissas book she has a wealth of info in it regarding raw food. Not just recipes but useful things like charts, tips, testimonies etc.. everything that can help you to make a success of a raw lifestyle.
You will also find good tips, recipes etc... in the forums here.

As regards equipment, i started raw with none, just basic knives etc.. but i must admit a food processor was really helpful, and helped save alot of time. it also was easier for making the foods as you can only chop things up so small by hand, so for me a processor has made a great difference.

best wishes

Alissa's book and this Board are the best tutors you could have :)
