I was wondering if any of you have a recipe of mint chocolate chip ice cream. I have the base for the raw ice cream down, and I have raw chocolate already made and in the freezer....but I was just wondering how much of the mint oil do you use?

I have the cherry garcia recipe down, and is my dh's favorite raw ice cream so far. But if I could get this one (which is his favorite SAD ice cream) I would be thrilled.

Thanks!

lol I don't know if I can help you or not but I had to share my story. when I first went raw I really wanted that mint chocolate chip ice cream so I made it with frozen bananas and raw cocoa chips then added what I thought was mint extract. It ended up being peppermint! It wasn't what I wanted at all and did not taste good to me! But maybe try mint leaves? It wouldn't make every bite minty I guess but it might work. Or add some mint leave "tea"? lol I don't know but I am eager to hear what every one else has to say.

ooh i made the best ever mint chocolate chip ice cream recipe, but i don't usually write down my recipes! i'll tell you what's in it though...

Chocolate chips: cacao/carob/coconut oil/agave -- frozen & into "chips"

Ice cream:
-Hazelnut milk
-cashews
-coconut meat
-fresh mint leaves, drop of peppermint extract (just a drop!)
-dash of spirulina (it's gotta be green)
-agave
-vanilla
-salt

Then as it's churning in the ice cream maker, add the chips!

Mmmmmmmmmmm it's my favorite flavor :)

It really depends upon what type of mint you are using.

If you are using essential oils (my favorite choice) it will take one or two drops.

Mint extract will take a little bit more.

If you are using mint leaves you will have to put some in and taste it to see if you need to add more.

Thanks everyone~ some good ideas :)!

I thought the spirulina idea to make it green was great !!!
Well , I made it before I got a chance to get back to the computer tonight and see what y'all said...so I winged it and just did my traditional ice cream base and then I added 1 tsp. of mint extract (which said it was made from the oils of mint and peppermint). And that was probably the perfect amount. My husband enjoyed it...but surprising said his favorite raw ice cream at this point is still the cherry garcia one!!!!! But it's still definitely a keeper.
Next time I'll definitely try the spirulina in it for GREENESS!
