Fruit flies have invaded my kitchen. Does anyone know of a safe way to get rid of them? Thanks!

Make a cone out of a piece of paper and place it in a jar with a piece of banana in it. The flies will fly through the cone to the banana, but won't be able to get out. You can then take the jar outside and let them out.

Haha, it seems like the only downside with going raw is the flies! It seems like many people are having the same problem! I start to wonder where they come from... like one day you come home from the market with fresh foods and then all the sudden you see all these flies outta nowhere!

The only reason I've been getting them is I sometimes leave the compost in a corn bag on my counter to remind me to take it out to the compost and then the fruit flies start coming.

Yeah, I admit I do that too... I have a bucket that I put scraps in, and sometimes im to lazy to take it out right away: its so much easier to just fill it up and then empty it when its full. But where do the supid things come from?

I am not sure I want to know! I have heard of few different ideas from where they come from so knowing for sure might not be a good thing.

I had this problem for almost 2 weeks so I finally went to Canadian Tire and bought this square thingy that hangs anywhere and we hung it beside the kitchen sink because we figured that was the problem. We had even tried boiling a kettle of water and dumping it down the sink several times to get rid of them. The thing we bought at the store did work thou.

One thing that I have tried and worked was, in a glass of water put a drop of dish soap and some acv. Not sure if the flies are draw to the bubbles from the soap or the acv but this works.
