Well ever since I went raw, I have been buying nothing but produce, and I now have tons of fruit flies so I was forced to put all of the produce originally in a fruit basket in my refrigerator. So my question is does refrigerating produce get rid of any nutrients or other important stuff? Because I know how cooking does so I was just wondering...

I wish I had thought about refrigerating more of my produce when I first went raw. I still can't get all of those darn fruit flies out of my house! They are so annoying!

Yeah they sure are! When I eat, I have to constantly dance around so they dont land in my food! And there was a couple of instances where they flew up my nose. Sick!

I know it's not very animal-friendly and not very nice, but this is what I have done for the fruit flies in my house. I think it was originally posted on this board last year, can't remember.
Take a tall narrow-mouth jar and put apple cider vinegar about 1/4 way up. Then put in a few drops of dishwashing liquid. The flies like the vinegar but they'll get stuck in the solution.
I also refridge most of my produce if it's attracting the little buggers (ha ha)

I don't think refrigeration will decrease the foods nutritional value any. And if it does - it's minimal.
I freeze my bananas whole. They keep their color better. To thaw I put in a bowl of cool water for less then a minute. The skins come right off! Just an FYI!

Don't refrigerate tomatoes!!
Put a bowl of apple cider vinegar around your fruit

I tried something similar to the vinegar trick, me and my mom both tried our own ideas to see which worked better: she put some red wine in a cup and then put some saran wrap over it and poke some holes and I did the same except I smashed some bananas and sprinkled some yeast on it (I heard somewhere that yeast will kill it, I know its mean, but I'd rather not have them in my house). We started this yesterday, in addition to putting the produce in the fridge and when we woke up there was a huge difference:) . Oh, and Veganforlife, at first when I tried cold bananas, I didnt care for it, but the second time around I noticed how much firmer it is! Im starting to like it now, and Its a nice cold treat to beat the hot summer weather! Thanks you guys for all the tips! I will certanly try some!
