Hi all. I have been doing about 80%-90% raw for about a month or so and about 90-95% for the last week or so and am starting to get what feels like a bladder infection. It burns/hurts when I pee and well, that part also burns when I'm just sitting. Is this a detox symptom or a lack of something or too much of something? I knew that you could get all kinds of wacky detox symptoms and I have had some both physical and emotional and mental but I hadn't read anything on bladder infections.

Before anyone asks, I am drinking PLENTY of water. Or at least, I should be, I drink at LEAST 3 liters of filtered water a day (I'm overweight and still nursing). And do at least one green smoothie a day.

Cranberries are good to heal and prevent those types of infections. Ouch, heal soon!

Beppa66, you chimed in right when I was going to! Lol. I use to get these a lot & cranberry capsules are really effective because you can get a high dose of the cranberry & the infection usually goes away pretty quickly. Definitely try to heal it right away as it's not something to play around with.

I had this a little bit when i first went raw. I am wondering if it was some kind of detox? It went away after about 2 days.

Thanks. I usually take cranberry but I was just not sure if it'd help if this was detox. Anyone else ever have this as a detox symptom?

If it doesn't go away...

I have found Nutri Biotic's GrapefruitSeed tablets to be awesome for extremely quick relief from bladder infections. I would take 2 tablets every 30 minutes for the first 3-4 hours, then just go to 3x's a day for the rest of the week. I was in tears, and bleeding from a UTI...and this did the trick. And the pain relief usually came within 1 hour.
Hope you are feeling better soon,

Mishka

I had been raw about a month when I got a HORRENDous bladder infection. I thought it was detox too at first, but it progressed and got awful.

I totally support the use of craberry, d-mannose, and gse, but my understanding is that they only will rid bladder infections that are caused by e-coli (90-95% of bi are caused by e-coli). For some reason, I also get infections w/ less common bacterial forms, so sadly no natural approach worked for me and was forced to do the dreaded anti-bs :(

heres to hoping its just detox!

I use to just pop CranActin in the chewable tablet form for anything that felt like a BI or UTI coming on because a friend who had suffered a severe UTI recommended it but since the chewables have sucrose (I think??) in them I wasn't sure if that was a good choice now. I will look into the GSE suggestion as I do have liquid GSE I used to treat some yeast and mine and my husbands tinea.

How incredibly funny that you post this. I haven't had a UTI in 6 years, and when I do get them I don't have the normal symptoms. I just got home from the doctor's office to check if I had one. Yep.

I wondered if it was some sort of detox or brought about in some kind of bodily house cleaning. Who knows.

I take a large glass of water (10 oz) and add a healthy tblspoon of baking soda. Repeat every hour for a couple of hours, drinking lots of water in between. It helps make your bladder less acidic.

When I first was getting menopausal symptoms, I was getting a bladder infection every month it seemed. I Googled it and found a web site where the above was the recommended treatment. I tried it at the first sign of any type of burning. It really seem to nip it in the bud. Unfortunately for me, once the infection took hold, I needed the antibiotics. None of the home remedies helped....

oh yeah, also enema with chlorella implant
I know it sounds weird but I think the toxins in the colon must leak into the bladder
