Hello, long lost friends and new faces.

I'm so embarrassed to see that the last time I was on this board was January 5th of this year. A lot happened... I ended up in the ER middle of December last year with a blood clot in my leg. After 5 days in the hospital, I was ordered to take blood thinners (coumadin) and I was to give up greens and anything with Vitamin K in it, as it interferes with the blood thinners.

My body does not like the coumadin and my levels haven't been up to where they're supposed to be to combat the clot, so my doctor has taken me off anything green. Even with this, my levels are still too low.

Needless to say, my eating habits crashed and burned. I won't get into too much detail, but I gained back all but 7 pounds of the weight I'd lost on Raw. I lost all motivation to exercise.

I ask myself, where did my motivation GO? I went back to school, I'm majoring in exercise science and nutrition, I should be motivated to lose this weight and get my body back in the glowing shape it was before December.

I'm coming back. Even if I can't have my leafy greens or any of that, I can still eat wonderful fresh raw foods and revel in the way my body feels on Raw. I can work my way around this medication and dietary changes.

I CAN SUCCEED!!!

I still wonder if you ate a lot of greens that do thin the blood and stop the cumadin what would happen since they're more natural and your body may react better to that? Either way, I'm glad to see you back!

Dear Corrine!

So happy that you are back! I'm very sorry to hear about your leg and the troubles with the blood thinnners.

You can absolutely succeed! Maybe even returning to a diet high in raw foods will help with the blood clot!

Again, welcome back, my friend! I've missed you! :D

Take care,

Mary

Hi. I was a Nurse Practitioner before getting my ND and of all things, I ran a coumadin clinic!

Now, the truth is that if you communicate with your Dr. , you can eat your greens, but you have to be incredibly consistant with the greens that you eat so your levels will remain stable. They can then adjust your dosage based on your diet. Just be sure to communicate with your physician and they will check your PT and INR more frequently(I would reccomend weekly)until you get regulated.

Thanks to you all for your incredible warmth and support!

Dr. White, I am currently being tested weekly anyways because of my body's refusal to cooperate with the coumadin. At this point my doctor is against my having greens (I just spoke to him last week), but isn't opposed to perhaps trying them again in the near future. I can't wait! I miss my juices and smoothies!

I'm very blessed to have you all on this forum.
See you on the boards!
:D

I'm new since you were last here, but it's always good to hear of someone going back to raw. Best of luck on the whole issue with greens, and on achieving your raw goals!

Welcome home :)

Just keep on taking care of yourself and things will work out eventually. It is a shame that you have to be going through this. I am so sorry about the blood clot. I hope things resolve soon so that you can go back to eating the way you want to eat. :) Best wishes!

Dear Corinne,

It's so nice to see you again! I'm so sorry that you had gone through so much with your health. I hope you'll stick around, and I'm sure raw will make you so much healthier. My cystic acne is completely cured now. It has been a slow but very pleasant process, and every minute of it is so worth it. Best wishes to you....
