Soaking and Sprouting nuts...

Ok I'm VERY new to all this, so new that I havent started it yet, am still in the research phase. The one thing that is confusing me the most is the soaking and/or sprouting of beans/nuts??? Why and How do you soak and sprout?? Please 'splain.... hehe thanks!
