So I just realized how to save HALF of what I normally spend on cashews!
Whole foods sells WHOLE raw cashews for $8 per pound...but the broken up pieces and halves are only $4 per pound! What the heck!!!!

That's a great find!
Does anyone else taste a funny "chemically" taste when adding cashews to recipes? I'm talking about when they are blended with something.... It seems that everything I make with them in it leaves a strange taste in the back of my mouth. The ones I use are organic...

I don't think mine are organic..I don't know how raw they are either (they taste raw) but I still really like them when I need my cashew fix
whole foods is on the edge of the universe compared to where i am

The last batch of raw cashews I picked up at Whole Foods just a week ago had a funny taste. I threw them out and was going to try again. I was hoping they were just bad or something.

My health food store sells the pieces much cheaper than the whole ones, too, but I really don't like the pieces. Don't know why it's different, but I prefer the whole ones.:o

Could be mold...you don't necessarily have to see it for it to be there. Nuts can get moldy if they sit in the bin/on the shelf for a while. Maybe that was the taste? I always store my nuts and seeds in the freezer. So I can buy in bulk when there is a good sale :D and not worry about mold or bugs.
