View Full Version : Power Drink for Hiking Trips

This question stems from this weekend's camping/hiking trip. I had taken some good raw foods but after the hike, all I wanted was water (I sweated like a race horse!). So, I've been thinking about what I could take on backpacking trips that could be added to water to replenish lost minerals, vitamins, carbs and protein. My first thought was hemp protein powder, spiralina, and honey but I'm not sure that is exactly the right combo and whether it would taste decent. Sooooo...any thoughts folks? (Weight becomes an issue when backpacking but not when car camping as I did this weekend. I'm particularly interested in workable ideas for backpacking situations.)

Something I did for my 80 mile bike ride the other week was to make green smoothie rollups for during the day-long ride. You are getting all that goodness, it takes up relatively little room, you can pop 'em your mouth quick. Then water can be drunk as water ;)

What did you put in your green smoothie rollups? I like the idea for sure!
