Hey,

I just wanted an opinion about the nuts I bought, and am using.
Lets see- their roasted, salted, with low oil. Is that the perfect
type? ;)

the name is ( transfered already into bins). I think they're for cooking, but
appeared raw. dont appear to have additives They seem to agree with me. comments?

Usually if a nut is raw it will sprout, although not all of them will, you might try this if you wish.

I buy my raw nuts at costco, walnuts, pecans, almonds and pine nuts, however, I can't get the raw brazils, hazelnuts, or macs there, but every little bit helps, with the cost factor anyway.

what kind?

Well in big bags I think only almonds - walnuts were available.

Doesn't anyone know this brand chefs naturals? I think I've seen 'em in
grocery stores too. There not in the regular nuts / popcorn snack section.

Not sure about sprouting them.

Got my other nuts at health store, natch, but always looking for a bargain.

Any raw, live in, volunteer, gourmet cooks out there ? - LOL

These are the ones I always buy at Walmart. I *thought* they were raw. Now I'm wondering too.

*been lurking not posting for a bit, but here's my two pennis worth*

This was something I wondered when I first looked into the Raw diet, how can you tell......

apparently if something is raw, legally, it has to state so.........

SoooOOoooooo, if it is raw it was say raw or unpasturised.

So I guess the nuts you are talking about have probaly been heat treated, maybe in the shelling process. BUT it might be worth a call to the company who produce them.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news guys :(

Really? Okay cause they taste raw to me, but what do I know. But okay,
I was wondering if it had added chemicals or something. But your suggesting
there could be damaging heat involved. wow. Who can call them?
Who sounds official and gruff - LOL?

I called them today and had to leave a message. Hopefully someone will get back to me and then I'll pass along the info. :)

Someone from Fisher called me back within the half-hour yesterday. (I just didn't have time to post because I was waiting for my brother's baby to be born!) Their very friendly and informative rep told me that the whole nuts from this particular line (Fisher's Chef's Naturals) ARE, IN FACT, RAW. They are not heat-treated in any way. These include the WHOLE almonds, walnuts and pecans. However, please note that the slivered or sliced versions are NOT raw, and are, in fact, blanched.

I was glad to have this confirmed since I've been buying these whole nuts for a couple of months now. For those of you who don't know, you'll find them in the baking aisle. I pay $6.28 per pound.

I was always told that unless the package/label says roasted or toasted, that it is raw. I hope that what I was told is true.

Hi,

If you have a costco near you, you can get, pecans, walnuts, almonds and pine nuts all raw, and all at the lowest cost anywhere.
