Does anyone have a Halvah recipe? I've never made it before but think a raw version would be wonderful!

Thank you in advance for any ideas! :)

this is from a post i read earlier from sweetgoddess:

halvah, which is 1 cup raw tahini, 1 and a half Tbsp raw carob and raw honey or agave nectar to taste, sometimes I add vanilla. Spread in a dish and chill so it firms a bit.

hth! it sounds quite yummy :)

Recipe sounds great. Where do you get the raw carob? Wild oats sells only the roasted carob.
Roots :D

Thank you so much haresmum, I'd forgotten that sweetgoddess mentioned eating halvah in her journal. That recipe looks great, thank you for posting it!

And rootstotoot, I got my raw carob at a store chain here on the west coast called Central Market. They have a wonderful bulk food section and the raw carob is so nice and fresh!

Also Alissa sells raw carob on her site, I've heard others say it is wonderful. I will order some when I run out of the supply I have now.

you will probably have to order it online. the only place that i can get it here in the 4th largest city in the nation? my co-op! sad, i know.

but, thank god for that....b/c there are many things i get there that can't be found elsewhere.

if you have a co-op.....see if they can order it for you, or start carrying it. it might be cheaper than ordering on your own.
