Soaking Dates?

So I read somewhere on the site about Alissa's fudge balls (i really love the name :p ) and it says to use soaked dates..i was just wondering how long you are supposed to soak the dates for

I usually soak my dates for at minimum an hour - but usually more like two hours or more.

I soak about an hour but if I am in a hurry I do it in 20-3- minutes and they tun out fine.

You really only need soak dates if they are not really really soft to begin with. Sometimes they may be hard due to being older or being refrigerated. If they're not TOO hard, I've also (in a pinch) run them under hot water in the sink to soften up a bit.
