10 (or more) Daily Appreciations

I started this on another site almost 2 years ago. I've found it's a GREAT way to start, continue and/or end the day. EVERYONE can find 10 things to appreciate in their lives no matter how low or depressed they are ~ if they wish to. Simple things like hot/cold running water; the sun is shining; a roof over my head, etc.

How this works is, start with a "sentence stem", then list at least 10 things you appreciate and or are thankful for.

Here's one beginning:

On this wonderfully sunny day in my lil corner of paradise I am appreciating:

1) I woke up and got up under my own power one more time.
2) hearing the birds singing
3) Bo is home with me as a "permanent resident"
4) Alissa Cohen for making this wonder-filled site for all to support each other in their on-going raw aliveness
5) Bo's ongoing love and support of my endeavors
6) the internet for all I've found to do on it and all it can do
7) the internet for without it, I'd not have found Bo ~ or him, me.
8) the fragrance of the candles I made last night
9) that Bo got me started creating income doing other things I enjoy
10) this beautiful home we just moved into

[Autumn]

On this peaceful, warm night, as I sit inside my office with my baby Mandy at my feet and my hubby snoring softly in the next room, I am thankful for:

1. My mother's love, which never leaves me for a minute even though she is 1100 miles away.
2. All my dear new friends on this board.
3. My husband's patience, calm, reassurance and support of my work and whatever I set my mind to do.
4. Our shared love of growing delicious fruits and veggies in our garden.
5. My little Mandy who shows me every day what true, unconditional love really is.
6. My difficult brother, who gives me the opportunity to develop patience, tolerance and acceptance.
7. My other brother and his wife, who will give me a nephew in just a few days.
8. My bed, with it's mound of covers and tons of soft pillows that I almost feel guilty sleeping in because of the millions of people who sleep on the ground.
9. My kick ass new powder blue summer wedges. :D
10. The fact that in less than 3 weeks I will return home for the first time in 18 months and be able to stroke the soft hair of my baby sister as she sits there rolling her eyes.

1. Every breath I take on this plane of manifestation and learning
2. My beloved Dragggon, my partner, my soulmate, my best friend
3. My beloved son,who was born when I was 15, and grew up by my side, and to this day, we are dear friends
4. My beloved granddaughters, all 5 gorgeous, intelligent young little psychic witches
5. My Draggon Doggin, who is my familiar, and Shadow Spirit who is Dragggon's familiar, and all the wild critters and creatures that live in,on or near out lake.
6. My mom, who passed away 20 years ago, and raised me to be independant, and to take care of myself.
7. My Grandpa Dick, and Grandma Pearl who loved me for me, not what I could do with my art or my psychic abilities
8. All my friends and foes in this lifetime, who have taught me so much
9. My psychic and artistic tallent, that I am so grateful to have this lifetime.
10.My "inner knowingness" of what path I am on in this life, that changes when I must move on to new and different adventures.

12) we're going to a new restaurant tomorrow to meet new raw folk

8) sleeping on our "new" bed which came in from Dk
9) we chose not to do the markets on Thursday and Friday

14) raw enchiladas and chili rellenos yesterday

1. My sweet, *hot* husband of 18 years tells me *I'm* hot, 18 years, many wrinkles, grey hair, and an extra 40 pounds, almost every day.

3. My gorgeous, sweet doggies who teach me every day about love and loyalty.

Dolphin dance is doing what dolphin's do ~ dance ~without bumping into each other. Actually, it's real movement with a life lesson. A bunch of folk get together, maybe 8 or more, then put into a given area and told to walk quickly amongst each other, looking for the opening.

As a life-lesson it's ~ instead of looking for the obstacles, look for the openings. :)

7. I have called into the universe those things that I desire, I deserve and I will use as blessing

1) we found a dentist who charges half of what they do here ~ AND we get a mini-vacation
2) He found an organic farm and lavender farm for us to visit while down in SD
3) we'll get our oranges w/out having to rush home
4) a good night's sleep
5) finding the cd's for Danish language study
6) phone lines for long-distance w/out charge
7) this site and Alissa's putting it together and maintaining it
8) we have two vehicles to get us where we need/want to go
9) being able to hear His voice
10) being able to watch Him sleep

1. We have so many orders, Dragggon can't print them as fast as they came in today, that was a first.
2. 2 people running 3 computers for 14 hours a day each, and we still can't get all the work done.

6. Dragggon keeps getting custom orders for magick wands and staffs

10. We are doing many personal appearances this year for pagan and psychic events

8. We found Beauty's owner and we are getting Diamond for ourseleves

1) we made it to Tijuana/San Diego and home unscathed
2) we were referred to a couple of dentists who do fine work ~ at half the price
3) on the way home we stopped at an organic produce stand where the owners have 600 acres of organic stuff!
4) we went to a lovely place where they grow LOTS of varieties of lavender
5) I got to spend these last couple of days alone with Him :)
6) we got to come home to our beautiful house
7) we have a whole case of organic oranges sitting in the kitchen
8) we have LOTS of kale and chard for green smoothies and wraps
9) we got to check out a raw food restaurant down in SD ~ twice
10) we stayed in a beautiful hotel in a quaint lil city

I don't think I've posted in this thread yet. Shame on me!
Today I am so incredibly thankful for:

#1 My youngest sons foot not having to have a skin graft.
#2 Not breaking my sons foot when I ran over it today.
#3 Skilled nurses and doctors.
#4 Excellent health care.
#5 Pain killers.
#6 Being taught a lesson in patience and trust.
#7 My children and what they mean to me.
#8 My mom's birthday and what her 76 years of life mean to me.
#9 My oldest son's safe 29 hour Greyhound bus ride back "home" to see family.
#10 Last but certainly not least, my faith in God and how it carries me through even the darkest valleys.

Things could have been a lot worse....to make a long story short, Luke now has a toonie size (A toonie is a Canadian two dollar coin a little over an inch in diameter) hole on the inside of his heel that goes almost to the bone. Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT, under any circumstances let your children try to get out of the car before you are completely stopped. He had opened the back door of the car, and put his foot down to get out, and his foot was dragged and wedged under the back tire before he hollered. I was slowing down to stop but was not stopped yet! He knew better, he's been told for years, but kids will be kids. I feel for him. But, he's going to be okay. Thank the Lord for that!

As you can see, I have much to be thankful for today. As do we all.

I didn't end up on this post by accident... today i need to, more than ever, remind myself the things i am grateful for :

1- my daughter and the joy she brings me on a day to day basis...
2- the "kissing hand" i received from my daughter this morning, which will remind me of her throughout this day
3- the love my husband has for me and his sometimes different ways of showing it! :)
4- my sisters listening and non judgemental shoulder to lean on during the day through email
5- the chance to be a host family for a student learning english for 6 weeks
6- the opportunity to get to know a bunch of teenagers involved in the student exchange and appreciate who they are
7- the beautiful sun that is out today and shining as bright as ever
8- my colleague who lent me some humorous cd's to listen to at work this morning... just when i needed it
9- my work friend who is very supportive in the situation i am going through
10- this forum where i can always pick up something i need when i need it most

there, now that feels good! i do have a lot of blessings in my life, i am sure the list could go on and on....

On another lovely day in our little corner of paradise I am appreciating ~

1) His design for the office and that it's finally getting done
2) the guesthouse is almost ready
3) new opportunities for income
4) spending the whole day with my beloved
5) have a beloved to spend the whole day with
6) meeting some of "his" friends and discussing opportunities
7) He's here with me
8) we have a beautiful home that is becoming more de-cluttered

10) going to sleep and waking up beside him every night and morning
11) having picked up two new books yesterday ~ one by Carolyn Myss
12) all the things that are available to us
13) the lil furballs that get to swim in our pool at night
14) our little garden which is producing loads of tomatoes, basil, peppers and parsely
15) a whole day with nothing that "has" to be done except to celebrate it
16) the firemen who were all OVER the streets of Glendale collecting for the relief fund
17) that we have our own city firemen and police
18) opportunities and options
19) having learned the secrets of life so I can live joyously
20) learning not to sweat the small stuff and remembering ~ it's all small stuff ~ unless I make it big stuff

This is my first post! I am appreciating on this beautiful, albeit somewhat stressfull day:

1. The God that I live for
2. My husband and 4 children
3. That we decided to homeschool and are going to make it even more enjoyable for our kids than ever before!

That after over a month of not hearing from any of the many, MANY jobs my dh applied for, that once we let go of the fear, worry and doubt that he got a call for a lucrative (not necessarily monetarily, but in that it is fulfilling - and it pays pretty good too ;) ) position that is doing what he loves to do!
5. That I have my life, health and strength
6. That I've been 100% raw for the last two days
7. That I got my website updates finished and was able to figure out why it kept displaying incorrectly the last 2 nights
8. We are learning to use more of our talents and gifts in our lives so the day will come that we will no longer need to depend on employers for our livelihood
9. My children are beginning to learn about having their own business (daughter wants to start walking neighbor hood dogs; son wants to sell his artwork)

Today has been a remarkable day for me- I have cried when I watched t.v., so I turned it off, then I worked for a while and cried when there was some requirements needed for the survivors of Katrina, because there is so much needed and I feel that I am just not doing enough. I stopped to give Thanks for :

1. My life in God
2. Some things in my personal life have worked out
3. Compassion
4. Love
5. Peace
6. Again to Revell for even starting this thread - it reminds me not to take shortcuts in life
7. Learning new behaviors that improve the quality of life for me and others I encountered
8. Changes that are coming about and the new opportunites that are being afforded to me!
9. Soon and very Soon, I will be spending time with some beautiful people and really increasing my quality life

Today, in the deep dark hours.

I find myself appeciating

1. the detox I have been going through that is so terrible, as I know I will come through this so much healthier
2. That my son can make his own choices, and I have taught him well
3. my husband
4. my being 100% raw, and having no cravings
5. that I can heal all of my body, if given enough raw food and time
6. my beloved Draggon doggin who is beside me no matter what
7. My friends who are always supportive of my choices, no matter how silly they may be to other friends.
8. fresh fruit and vegetables, and an abundant harvest of our gardens
9. that I have enough to give to others
10. that people are willing to forgive you, when you stumble, and then forgiving them back when they stumble.

Beginning my day early after having mostly green smoothies all day yesterday I am appreciating ~

1) there are options to what others recommend
2) the body can and will regenerate and heal
3) He came home safely from doing work that excites Him
4) knowing he's relatively safe in our home in another room
5) having the space to work w/out interfering w/ other parts of the house
6) our favorite farmers' market is open today
7) having begun our second year of marriage more loving and appreciative than our first
8) going into our second year doing more of what we want to continue with
9) the beautiful, supportive phone call I received last night
10) the storage room is getting tiled today so our home will be even more organized
11) up in time to get some work finished and out walking before going to the market
12) living in joy and wonder at how the universe works
13) staying balanced amidst turmoil
14) a good food program; qigong and appreciations
15) sharing what works with others
16) having so much to be thankful for
