View Full Version : Heavier Menstrual Flow?

It seems that during the two menstrual flows I've had since transitioning to raw my flows have been heavier? Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what's the cause. I'm not problematically heavier, just more than I'm used to experiencing.

I have had heavier flow in the last two period since raw. I thought it was just my imagination.

My first period since going raw was heavy as normal. My second one was a NIGHTMARE! I had 6 days of heavy bright red bleeding, migraines (I rarely had headaches before raw) and so on.
The good news is, I had very little pain. Normally, I'm on my hands and knees in pain, staying home from work, etc.
What helped was eating/drinking tons of greens. Green smoothies, large dark bitter green salads, green juice, and wheat grass. Also drinking a lot of water and Thai coconut water (a natural electrolyte) was great.

I have noticed this, too. Also dizziness. I have wondered why, too. Detox sounds just too weird, though possible.

Ok- this may be TMI -- but you asked...
Last Sept. or Oct. I was 100% during that time period and had been mostly raw with some SAD since about the previous Dec......anyway, I had just gone to the restroom and changed my tampon, but after about two minutes of sitting at my desk I could tell something was amiss. I went back to the restroom and (ok, this is the gross part) it was like a scene from the bloody butcher! There was so much bloody mucus it was like I was having a baby! And it just kept coming out! And it was all over because I thought I just had to wipe with TP. Which made it sorta "gush" out. But as soon as this was done, my flow was less and my back felt INSTANTLY better. Ever since then my flow has been lighter and shorter. Sorry if I grossed anyone out, but I thought I would share for the sake of the post.

It's not weird. Odd and different sounding, but really think about it. What IS menstration?? It is a form of detox itself.

Yes, I'm having exactly the experience several of you have described. My flow is a bright, brilliant red and it feels like I'm flowing all day. This is day 3 which usually marks the time when my body stars to turn down the flow and prepare to wrap up within the next 30-48 hrs. But not this time, I can feel the constant flow. I'm not experiencing any pain or cramping. Just the very mild discomfort of feeling my body going through its sacred cleansing ritual. I'm wondering how long this will happen. As my body is restored to proper balance, I wonder how my flow will change. We'll see...

I have Asherman's syndrome...its a disorder that causes bands of scar tissue called adhesions to attached to my uterus. It also causes a stoppage of periods as the scarring gets so bad that the lining won't shed. Well...I've been raw since Feb, and no periods since July 06. Weirdly enuf, I started to get them again. I just finished my second month in a row...perfectly regular 28 days apart! This last one was heavy like crazy, but lasted 2.5 days. I take it as raw healing my body (previously infertile because of the Asherman's too) and I LOVE it! Well OK I can do without the periods, but the fact that my body is healing itself is way cool.

I think it's normal, you're detoxing. Drinking a LOT of water is key.

No, actually this one is lighter. But normal for me is very heavy and long. Although I did feel very hard in the lower abdomen area just prior to startting which was unusual.

I've been bouncing from different percentages of raw for about 2 months now and last month I barely had ANY period, seriously, it was like 24 hours and barely there. I am usually light/heavy/heavy/heavy/light for 4-5 days. Mine are very heavy as I have endo symptoms.
Then this month comes along and I am heavier than normal and it was just 7 days straight of heavy/extra heavy and REALLY bad cramps.
Glad to see I'm not the only one.

Yes, my periods are heavier since I'm Raw and it's definitely detox. Goodness, I hope there are no men reading but I pass a lot more clots and my body is shedding that heaviness instead of holding onto what would turn into disease later. Today is my eigth day of fasting today, second day on my moon and I'm releasing a lot of clots and feel better and lighter for it.
