Hi,

I just started making my own raw almond milk a week ago. My recipe is basic:

1 cup of almonds
3 cups of water

then I blend it up and squeeze the pulp with a milk bag. This time I added 1 TBSP of agave nectar and reblended after it was smooth.

The previous times I used 2 medjool dates but don't like the date grit in my drink even after putting it through a milk bag.

So I use this for a hot coffee substitute or decaf tea and when I add it the milk separates. Also noticed today when I went to get it in the fridge it had separated.

Is there a solution? Or maybe that's the result of it being all natural and raw?

I don't understand the problem. It's what it does ~ separates. Shake it up and keep on keepin' on.

Yep, it's normal. It reminds me of breast milk...not that I drink that! REVVELL!!! My daughter and all her five kids and the milk I've seen....!!
Sheesh!!!

Revvell and Veganforlife,

Thanks. I'm used to store bought soy milk which doesn't separate so just wanted to make sure this was normal and my milk wasn't going bad or something. I sit with spoon in my drink so I can keep stirring it in. Now I know the store bought stuff must have lots of preservatives to keep it together.

I added a little coconut milk with it and it helped to hold it together.
Someone printed that on the forum not too long ago and it really helps, i will try it today with some almond.
Hope it helps:)

Bethanie,

Thanks, I'll have to try it. Do you mean the coconut water in the young coconut or is this coconut milk you buy?

Oh not the milk you buy, that has been processed. Fresh, good coconut water straight out of the coconut.

Veganforlife,

Thanks, that's what I thought as I knew the store stuff wasn't raw. I'll have to try it out and see if it works.
