Hi, i saw the tyra show today and it was about diets. I saw that one of the girls who had Alissa as her leader lost alot of weight and thats what led me to this site. Can someone tell the me guidelines and what i can and cannot eat. I would order the book but my mom won't let me. Please just tell me as much as you can or want about this life style. :)

Aloha and WElcome to RFT! Im sorry your mom won't let you order Alissas book, perhaps you could earn some $ and save and purchase it? It is really an amazing tool to help you transition to the raw lifestyle...

check out the main directory - and there is a section there for teens and young adults. It will be a great place for you to connect with peers that have a like mind as you.

I think perhaps you could do a google search online and see if you can find any information on the raw lifestyle.

I've only been doing this for 4 months - so I'm a newbie too! Bascially, the raw lifestyle consists of raw foods, fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, sprouted grains and sprouted nuts...

these things are eaten in their simplest form (an apple is an apple!) to more amazing combinations to create raw tacos (meat is actually walnut meat) to fajitas, raw pizzas... it's wonderful and amazing!

the health benefits are wonderful, eating this way is very healing!

there is a ton of information here for you, just keep reading and asking questions, you'll get a lot of support! Make sure to check out the teen and young adult section!
blessings on your journey!

Welcome, Shay88! (from another newbie :) )

I think StarFire's post covers just about everything, but I just wanted to add that you could check your library for books on raw foods. Alissa's book is good, but the library probably wouldn't have it, but there are tons more with recipes and info about the raw lifestyle.

Or if the library doesn't have any, you could always go to Borders or Barnes and Noble and just hang around reading some of the raw books for a while until they kick you out :D
