Is it possible that there could be some truth to this. I drink smoothies and green drinks and eat raw but i don't drink a lot of water.
My weightloss is very slow so i'm not sure if it's the water or not.
Any advice is welcome.
Thanks

Not sure about the weight loss but you should definitely be drinking more water. Your body can't use the liquid in smoothies or fruits and veggies the same as it can use just water. I agree... up the water intake!

Do u like tea? There r so many great flavors out there and so many healthy ones for u and u can make tea without using hot water. U can make tea by just setting it in the sun. I used to make gallons of sun tea. The latest i read on getting enough liquids in one is it is ok to include tea and such like that.
Water is still the best but if u really dont care for it then add something to it. Lemon is great and also good to cleanse your liver.
Do u use a lot of fruits in your smoothies and green drinks? I would think that would slow the weight loss down. Just my opinion.
Good luck

Don't 'cha love advise from other folks? I'm not cutting your husband down, but your body may be concentrating on detoxing and CHANGING. This is a big change for one's body. It's not all about the weight. It's about health. You are becoming healthy. The weightloss will happen. Give it time. How long have you been raw? And what percentage are you raw? Tell hubby to chill and be patient. All good things come to those who wait.

Good advice from all above. Your body is made up of a lot of water and needs it to replenish itself and keep going. So far as weightloss goes, each body is different - as VFL noted, you may also need to detox. So many variables. I do find that my body lets go of more so far as detox AND weight when I keep hydrated with just pure water. I notice that tap water is problematic for me. My mom is bad at drinking water as well, but finds that she drinks more when she uses a straw. How strange is that? I can drink a gallon a day, no problem. I keep a large insulated cup nearby and try to make sure it is empty at the end of the day. I also make sure I drink a glass of water before I indulge in any beverage that is for self indulgence. I have gotten to the point that I actually crave water at times. Strange, eh? I have the quirky advantage that my back really, really aches if I am short on my water intake. My lower back. Kidney thing? I don't know, but if I don't drink enough water or get constipated my lower and up to lower mid back aches like there's no tomorrow. Keeps me motivated to keep drinking.

If you are detoxing (most likely) just remember that water will help flush the system of those released toxins.

hm...I'm not sure about weightloss. But a few days ago I had posted about intense eye pains, I felt a lot better after drinking about 40 oz of water -- purified. :o Now I make sure to drnk some water no matter what.

I feel the same as Tiggerbounce with my lower back acheing when I don't drink enough water, esp when I'm detoxing, which hopefully I always am, just at different rates.:D

I agree wholeheartedly with what Dreamrawalwz said, I find this crucial for me or I get sick. It doesn't help as much per se with the weight as it does the inches. When my body is burning the fat it needs to flush it and then it is reflected in my measurements or the way my clothes fit. With just the weight on the scale, for me, it fluctuates 6lbs difference at any given time throughout the day and It takes about 4 days to see a definate drop on the scale of about a pound.:)

Water is a critical element for the proper functioning of of metabolic processes from digestion to absorption to elimination. In a recent college nutrition class, I learned some fascinating stuff about water and that lovely Hydrogen atom critical role in all our life-giving processes. So, whether for weight loss, detox, or just because it's soooooo good for you -- DRINK WATER!

You should drink half your body weight in ounces of water a day. So, if you weigh 150, you should drink 75 ounces of water a day. Do not count coffee or caffeinated tea as a part of that equation because caffeine dehydrates. Fruit/veggies juices can contribute but it's just easier to let those items be over-and-above your water intake.

AMEN! When I first started 100% raw a year ago, someone on the forums said, "Nah, you don't have to drink water like you did eating SAD/CRAP foods."
WRONG! You still have to drink just as much! Yes, drink your water...it flushes all the gunk out. So healthy for you! Alissa and Revvell talk about this in Show #13 I believe it is. (Rawkin Radio)

I'm making some laxative tea right now and will have it with my cocoa smoothie.
I had a nice size glass of pure water this morning and will have more thoughout the day.
Thanks for the encouragement:)
I know i have a lot of waste in my body to get rid of because i use to eat nothing but meat for years, didn't eat anything raw only cooked veggies so i've got a long way to go.
I know i will get there if i don't give in and i don't intend to do that.
Thanks for the help.

Bethanie:
I would agree with everyone.....
Even if your weightloss is slow because of DETOX, then the extra water is needed to help flush it out. My opinion is that extra water can only help!

During the Summer we require more. If you are high raw to 100% & are used to fruit taking the place of your water, you might need to UP the amount while you are in this Season.

However... are you thirsty??

I totally agree! I feel so much better after starting the day with a large glass of lemon water and drinking about 75 oz a day - especially when I'm out sweating (I tend to drink more on those days).

When you're detoxing, you may have to drink every MORE water!

If you are not drinking at least 8, 8 ounce glasses of water a day, you are dehydrated.
Another way to tell if you are dehydrated. If your urine is white to light yellow, you can pretty much bet you are doing ok.

Drink a glass of water first thing in the morning. Then drink two more glasses half hour before breakfast. Then, two more glasses half hour before lunch and two a half hour before supper, then one before bed, minimum.

Coffee, tea, ect. does not replace pure water, they don't count.

In this summer heat, more water is suggested.

might want to research the type of water you are drinking
I did not feel better until I tried Penta water, it is very pure,
I know it is expensive but I only need a little bit of it a day and it hydrates me way better
Will have to let you know if it helps with weight loss, I'm hoping!

but may want to research alkaline water or ionized...
or distilled
spring water did nothing for me and can still have contaminants in it
the whole thing is so confusing to me!! so i have no idea what kind of system to get for the house.

anyway, might just want to try it.

We still drink it sometimes but we drink purified water and distilled water.
I'm on it drinking more water, now i need to drink another glass full and so on thoughout the day.
Believe me i will let you know if i see a weight change:) it may be that the lack of water is not moving the waste out like it should.
Thanks to you all for the advice and support:D

Hello Bethanie! What kind of water are you drinking?

I don't like to drink water unless it's the kind that I charge and mature myself - in fact, I can't even drink a sip of water unless I've charged it

Basically, charging water involves adding sea salt, minerals and whatever else you like, storing it in a glass jar, blessing it and leaving it outside at night to reconstruct under the moonlight

If you'd like I can give you more details =) Drinking this water is seriously the best ever! So much better than bottled water, it really hydrates you and makes you feel good

Be forewarned~ I am going to talk about pee.

Before I started eating raw or at least a lot more raw, I used to be constantly thirsty. I would drink, drink, drink, and then I would pee, pee, pee and no matter how much I drank I was still thirsty! Everyone around me would laugh because I would either be saying I was thirsty or literally running for the bathroom.

Now I find that I still want water, but I rarely ever feel like I am dying of thirst and even though I am eating and drinking much more I am peeing much less.

My friend Dr. White explained it like these. When you are eating a SAD diet drinking water is like pouring a huge pitcher of water over a very dry plant and all of the water just runs through the soil and all over the ground. Eating raw causes your soil to stay moist, you still need to be watered but your body can make better use of it.

I drink a big glass of water with lemon every morning. And I drink it all throughout the day. If I get bored with it I add a lil raw honey or agave nectar or I use limes and sometimes I even blend it up with some strawberries and make strawberry lemon/limeade! Yum! If I don't drink enough I know it because I get a headache, my 13yo dd is the same way! And drinking water is especially important when I know I am detoxing.....

Also, I too would like to lose weight, but I am careful not to make that my focus. Being vibrantly healthy is my focus and if I lose weight, well, that is just an added benefit!

Hope this helps!

I notice my urine is a bright yellow color and that's how i can tell i need more water and it smells slightly.
I've heard that you don't have to go to the bathroom as much if you are fully dehydrated.
I go quite a bit it seems the more water i drink the more i go:)

Oh yeah, I also wanted to mention that lemon is very alkalizing so that is an added benefit of putting it in your water!:)

At first the more water you drink it does make you have to pee a lot more, but after a while you won't have to go so much =)

I couldn't go to the store without going and going again.
I've drank almost two glasses so far which is good for me but i will do much better tomorrow:) I have to go out tonight to church so i don't want to drink too much more and then afterwards i may drink another glass a smaller one.
