I feel like I am going crazy right now. I need to vent a little, thanks guys. I just keep thinking of ways to make it ok to not be 100%, and it's driving my crazy. I have been raw for... well I am going to bed now and when I wake up in the morning it will be 13 days.
These cravings for things that are fried and ice cream are getting the better of my mind. I'm not sure what I can do.

Also I am wondering... in the morning I look really great, my tummy is looking flatter but by the end of the day I am huge again, even if I didn't eat much. I feel I look bloated, is that some detox or what?

Thanks for letting me vent, I just like need to scream a little:p

Donīt worry :) Old habits takes some time to get rid of!You have been raw for 13 days but before that you probably had the food you are craving for years and years! I think the best thing is to make a substitute for it that is raw. Ice-cream for example: Put cashewnuts and dates, water, maybe some maplesyrup in the blender. Blend til it looks like a thick, smooth soup. Put it in the freezer and go back every 10 minutes and rotate it with a spoon, until it is firm and looks like icecream. Or simply blend frozen bananas.

Also, it is good to drink green smoothies in the morning, or whenever it feels right for you. Most people donīt eat enough greens and it is easy to do that if you make a smoothie. Take your blender and throw in some fruit, sprouts and green leaves and water. In the beginning you might want to have a lot of fruit and just a little bit of greens and sprouts. After a while you can increase that part. This is so easy to digest and so full of nutrition, and you really need that when you are starting out raw.
Give your body real food, like green smoothies, and after a while it will stop screaming about other things.

You are doing something really good for your body and your life! 13 days, thatīs great! I hope youīre feeling better soon!

I have a fantastic book that talks about willpower and how to conquer addictions, it is called WILLPOWER by Gillian Riley and one of the things she say is THE BEST WAY OUT IS ALWAYS THROUGH.
This mean that the best thing you can do is to face your craving, a sign of food addiction, instead of avoiding it , allowing yourself to feel the feeling of addictive desire for something. If you will not face and manage it you will be compelled to satisfy it. Do not ignore it, do not try to distract yourself, look addictive desire in the face, remember that IT WILL GO AWAY in time, accept it. You have amazing willpower, you just have to build up a new habit.
A big hug,
Sara

Hello Firicia,If you have not purchased Allisa's book,do it now!She has definately solved the sweet problem. Her fudge balls are to die for.If you cannot find almond butter, use tahini.Everytime you get a craving for sweets, pop a fudge ball. Also, you can make banana icecream with strawberry or blueberry sauce and chocolate sauce. They're all in the book.Your cravings for sweets will go away the longer you are off them.i have been sugar free for about 3 months now and have lost 20 lbs. It's the easiest thing I have ever done.Allisa's book has saved me.Her recipes are easy and yummy!Good Luck.

There are sooo many delish ice cream recipies that you can definately indulge that craving, as for fried foods, well, I know I crave fried foods when I don't get enough good fats in. So, ya, go for the fudge balls! Alissa's that is!:D

I second the raw ice cream recipes! Also for me, dehydrating foods with a ground flax seed mixture or corn tortilla mixture mimics fried foods. I don't know maybe I am weird. :p I do zucchini and dredge it in flax seeds and dehydrate for a few hours, then for a dipper I do avocado mayo with all the horseradish I can handle. I have even thought about doing corn dogs with a slice of marinated mushroom or eggplant for the hot dog, then dredge it in the corn tortilla mixture, dehydrate and see what happens!

spicyful- I really liked that. It's nice to think of our bodies as singing songs and doing what they need to do to make us healthy if we just give them the fuel they need and then just leave them alone and let them do what they need to do.

Thanks everyone for the support! I really appreciate it:D

I think I will try make some raw ice cream and go get some raw cashews.. ouu or maybe some peacans yummmm!!! I think the thing about facing your addictions head on is probibly really smart. I always get scared that if I let myelf feel it and indulge in it that I'll give in and have it, but maybe I need to feel it, grieve it, and learn to let it go.

Thanks everyone again, I'm off to make a green smoothy;)

Just remember that the cravings occure when the food/toxins/chemicals are being released from your cells and leaving your body. If you give in you'll have to go through it all over again. Trust me, I know!! Just hang tight. Make raw icecream. I know some have sprouted wild rice. I havn't, but maybe it'll help. You can make coucus (sp?) with cauliflower and maybe that texture will help?
