I have to carry my green smoothie to work everyday and I need a really good and big cup with a lid and a place for a straw. It needs to hold at least 5 cups of liquid. What do you guys use. I've looked everywhere and can't find one big enough, etc.

I don't know of anything like what you're looking for.

If you want to give up the pre-made place for a straw, you could consider using a 1-1/2 quart mason jar (canning jar). It would seal the liquid safely, would hold the volume you're looking for, and it's not plastic.

You could pour into something as you go to drink from it.

I have a Naglene plastic (actually a LIVESTRONG container) that I love. It holds 34 ounces and is dark colored so folks can't see my "gross" (their words, not mine) green smoothie.

I have a screw top bottle that's from Frederic Paternaude (?) site. It holds a quart which is a bonus but I spill all over myself when I'm driving. My kids have 20 oz. bottles with straw but those are h*ll to clean. I use a skinny paint brush to clean the straw.

I have wanted to post this question myself. I'd like at least 3 awesome smoothie cups. Oh, I think my biggest requirement is that I can get my hand inside to clean them. Is it just me or do those greens stick to the sides?!?! I have to use the handle of a wooden spoon, shove my sponge in and try to move it around with the spoon handle. Not very convenient, imo.

I will be checking our local camping stores. Thanks! I hope I find my dream smoothie cup... seriously.

ha ha. Yeah, I'm done with people making deurogatory comments about my green smoothie I'm also in the market for a container to keep it under cover. Yesterday I lied and told someone it was a Keylime slushie!

Oh my, are those green smoothies can be very difficult to wash up afterwards, that's a serious consideration about shape of container. If it's in a small glass bottle, the best thing I can do is immediately fill it up with water when I'm done drinking and shake it vigourouly; if it sits, it's a goner.

Agree! I put about 1/2 cup water in my LiveSTRONG bottle, then drink that. I fortunately can go home at lunch and soak it right away. It's working for me. My GS's are so thick I don't dare let them sit w/out their water bath afterward!

I bought a couple from our local Speedway gas station. They have various sizes. I love them because they are huge, but easy to manage. Plus, they are like a thermos and keeps my smoothies c-o-l-d!! They have long straws, too. I manage to pick up some long ones (or have trained my kids to) when I am out and about.

HTH! :)

Me too. I have several sizes for everything from my smoothies (quart size is perfect!) to smaller ones for my salad dressings.

There is a lexan mug by GSI that is wide mouthed and has a screw on lid. It holds about 28 ounces and comes in colors. I found mine on Amazon.com, though I just looked and they only offer smaller ones right now. Camping supply stores may have them.
