Okay, I don't want to step on anyone’s toes.....don't you hate it when we start a sentence out like this?
Any who, I have been reading the board for some time now and I have even questioned a few people about their weight loss and I am finding a lot of people who list their highest weight, their current weight and then goal weight, only to find out that the majority of their weight was lost prior to going raw. This almost makes people think that they lost gobs of weight on the raw diet, when in fact they really didn't.
Is there anyone out there who was significantly overweight, started the raw diet, lost 30-70 lbs and is keeping the weight off?
Just trying to keep us all honest.

Aloha Stacie... check out Morn's blog- you can find her all over the 'HOT HOT HOT JULY CHALLENGE.... amazing AMAZING transformation!
as far as me - I started out at 178lbs. Went on the Master Cleanse for 21 days to help me quit smoking and drinking.
lost 10 pounds.
started raw April 2007 at 168 lbs (oh I'm 5'2" btw)
current weight 132 lbs
the weight is slowly disappearing - I'm slimming down, feeling better, healthier, and people are amazed at my transformation. It feels good to hear that from people. Not just that I look thinner - but people are actually saying things like - wow - yu look so healthy- you are glowing - what are you doing??
My dh would give you an earful if you asked him. He's so happy I'm losing weight and eating healthy. He constantly goes on and on about how grateful he is that I'm eating raw and that I'm losing weight and reclaiming my health. Yes... Stacie - you can lose wieght on RAW... AND KEEP IT OFF...
I've only been raw for 100 days - but it has changed my life. ;)

i lost 50 lbs total between 50% raw and 100% raw. the first 30ish of those were at 50% (with intermittent periods of 100%, but not with a mindset of health but with one of restriction, and not vegan), the last amount of weight that i couldnt lose at 50% to 75% or whatever despite how much i exercised i did lose at super-high and 100%.
a huge reason i lost those first 30 lbs without being 100% was because i was restricting, and if i would not restrict for a week or so, i would gain literally half of it (or more) back. my weight fluctuated from 145 to 165 (give or take) during this time, sometimes so much as every few days, as did my raw %age (but always above 50%). it was so crazy, and so unhealthy.
this is all more or less..i dont really know exact numbers for everything..i just know i got into raw 2 years ago, started at 50% and gradually increased to 100% (swinging back and forth along the way), and have lost 50 lbs in the process.
as far as how much i lost on strictly super-high and 100%, i went from the 145-160 weight range, to 120..so thats 25-40 lbs. ive since intentionally and consciously worked to put back on 10ish lbs, as i was too boney at 120. if i dont take notice of how much im eating for a few days, or if im traveling or distracted or stressed, i drop back down to 120.
high/100% raw is the only thing that has kept the weight off, without restriction and without excessive exercise. so take that for whatever its worth.

I was raw for 6 months-lost around 30 pounds. Then slipped off and went to the binges(I have food addiction) and gained it back. Now slowly comming back to raw - I will post how it goes. Last time I lost it very easily!
I started my journey last Mid-September with Raw Foods. I have lost 79 pounds total. I am fasting currently but 70 of the pounds I lost were just from eating Raw and exercising. You can check out my food journal in the link below and my monthly pictures. It will show you my before and now pictures. Good luck on your journey. Raw does work!

I have been raw for a year now and have lost just over 20 lbs. I started at 145 and Im 5'6 so I am feeling great at my current weight of 123. I am not 100% raw but pretty close. Dont worry about weight and just eat raw. Its a beautiful thing!!!

:) See starfire, he's sooo supportive!! :D GOOD DNA!! HEHEhehe
Stacie, I find that when you get the hang of it and listen to your body, your body is really melting fat off. It's a detox and it's slower and doable so you still have energy and you glow and feel good as it's melting off.:)

My weight loss is entirely from a combo of Raw and (mainly) juice, as opposed to water, fasting. If I eat cooked for more than one day, I puff up like a blowfish..LOL..and when I eat high water content raw and/or juice fast, the weight drops like magic....
My weight loss is even more than I state, since I KNOW (even though I did not have a scale) that i was up to 260 before starting back on Raw, but I wrote 248, just to be safe...lol..

I have lost about 45 pounds on raw!

Me too - around the 45 lb. mark! That's real weight baby, BUT!!!! More importantly then that, I am healthy. My migraines (53 years of them) and a dead (non-functioning) thyroid (6 years of that) have been healed in less then a year. I would have rather stayed fat and gotten rid of both of those illnesses if it meant not losing the weight. Dropping fat is an added perk compared to how I FEEL. I feel alive and healthy and energetic and quick thinking. So different then how I was "living" before.
I'm thinking too many folks are doing this (eating raw) just to have a quick weight loss. That's not what it really is about. It's about healing and feeling well and creating a lifestyle/lifetime choice of eating. At least for me...and I bet a good number of others too. I will never go back to cooked SAD/CRAP foods. Why would I? I feel too well now. I am living.

Yeah, check out my siggy. I have lost more weight while raw than before raw. I started my weight loss on 2/5/07 and went raw on 3/19/07. I started recording my weight weekly on 4/8/07. I'll let the numbers speak for themselves about where most of the weight was lost.

Hi there,
I've lost at least 80lbs, possibly more since I didn't weigh myself when I was at my heaviest. It was all on raw. You can see my before and after pics on my website on the "My Raw Story" page. Raw really will help you lose weight, although a small minority of people find that they need to limit fats on raw to loose as much weight as they want to.
Even more importantly though, raw enable us to feel absolutely amazing!!
Raw is awesome!!!
Blessings,
Audrey

Hi Stacie! I have been raw for 51 days now and I've lost 25 lbs. I lost the most of my weight in the first couple of weeks...like 14-16 lbs.
Keep the faith!

Hey there.
I've been raw for 6 months. (not 100%) I honestly haven't weighed myself in a couple of months - but I'd guesstimate, based on how clothes fit, that I've lost about 45-50 lbs... since the day I started raw.

Thank you all so much for your responses. I was starting to think you all didn't exist and this was only a pipe dream.
My reasons for going raw are two fold, # 1 I want to heal myself of Hemochromatosis (iron overload), which the doctors say can't be done because it is a genetic condition (silly doctors), and # 2, I graduate from Nursing school in a year and I don't want to be the "fat girl" walking across the stage to be pinned. Also I need to be able to walk the floors of the hospital without added weight slowing me down. This is not a quick fix for me.....I have never been one to diet and when I do something, it is usually a permanent fixture in my life of obsessions. I just need to know that you all HAVE accomplished your goals and I can too.

I've lost 53 pounds since going 100% raw and am continuing to lose. If you go down to the July challenge thread, and go back to yesterday, you'll see my list of dates/weights. It has all been while being 100% raw! HTH!

Umm...yeah, me. How does 127 pounds while 100% raw sound to you? That's me.

Pre raw at heaviest was : 154lb
on my small frame this looked like twenty pounds more than this. 5ft 6
After a rough time with crohns was down to 140
since being raw 70% transitioning for 6 months, then now 4 months 100%
got down to 120
now after being unwell and water fasting sit between 100-105
stabilise normally at around 110 point which suits me fine.
Think thats an honest account of it!!

Stacie,
I started raw on June 11 and weighed 199 lbs and today I'm 186 and am in the middle or week 5 so that's 13 pounds so far. I just started exercising about week 3 and I'm not highly restrictive eating wise.
Mind you though I ate really bad before raw like junk food daily, Lays potato chips, chocolate, Maltesers, Doritos, smarties. I always had junk food daily. Also for meals I was eating lots of bread, pretty good amount of veggies, lot of turkey sausage and turkey bacon.
So for me I don't have to be too restrictive. I do try and not to consume too many nuts. If I want raw fudge I eat it and I love dried coconut too in desserts.
My sister started about 8 weeks ago and she has lost 22 pounds and she was 250 lbs when she began.
My mom has lost about 13 pounds in 8 weeks and started at 144 lbs.
