I'd like to start off by saying that I know this a forum dedicated to the guidelines outlined in Living on Live Foods. That said, approximately how much of the food that you prepare is from recipes in the book? Do you refer to the book on a regular basis?

I have not been successful sticking to raw foods so far. I tried the challenge this month and have only managed about 2 raw days out of 9. I really believe that this is the best way to eat and mentally understand how to do it. Unfortunately, I haven't done so well putting it into practice. I really want to order the book. I am going to have to put off a bill if I purchase it now but can probably afford the book without a problem if I wait a month.

Do you think that the book would be helpful enough that I should get it right now? My health is my first priority. Thanks for any input :)

I apoligize if this was discussed in another thread. I did a search and didn't find anything.

80% of the recipes i make are out of alissas book. mostly because theyre easy and yummy. the intro is also an invaluable piece of guidance when first starting off, IMO. i think it may really help you stay on track..and its definitely the first raw book id recommend.

I love love love Alissa's book. It makes it very easy..even tells you a shopping list and what to make for your first 4 weeks. I had bought raw books before but put them to work. It was Alissa's book that made it so easy, there was no way I couldn't go raw immediately. I make tons of stuff from the book and the recipes are simple and easy to follow. I have gone back and re-read the non-recipe stuff many times - this weekend included. I always get something new out of it. I can't reccomend it enough. :)

I ordered the book a few minutes ago! I am very excited. Thanks for your input.:D

I have a couple other raw food books and I think I just needed to hear that hers was different. I think I really need a book that can kind of double as my "raw food coach".

I ordered both when I decided to go raw, both meaning the book AND DVD. And I am glad I did. After reading the book then seeing Alissa in action on the DVDs. It's like being at one of her seminars.
You will NOT be disappointed. I know. I have most of the raw books that are out on the market.
I highlighted different points that I often go back and check on. It's big, wide margins for writing notes. I LOVE IT! You will too!

You'll be glad Kelly! I ordered one for my sister and I'm about to order one for my mom. It really makes going raw so simple. :)

kelly... YOu're gunna loove Alissa's book - when you read it - you will swear she's talkin right to you. It makes this lifestyle - 'do-able', and you begin to have a greater understanding of what - how and why...

personally - I never could have reached my 100th day (today!) without the guidance in Alissas book - I re-read it constantly - and the recipes... OMG... amazing... ;)

I'm so glad you purchased the book - it is so worth it!

I often read the rest of the book, but I don't do recipes much. I mostly eat smoothies, salads, and snacks of fruit. I wasn't into recipes before I went raw either. I ate mostly stir-fried random and bean burritos. I do make pico de gallo fairly often, and I go by a recipe, but it's one I developed myself.

yeah...both the book and DVD proved to be valuable tools. The DVD put into action what would have otherwise left me scratching my head...
 How do you make angel hair pasta from a zucchini??

I have five raw food books/recipe books and honestly, I use Alissa's the most. I don't often make full on recipes, but her recipes are the most user friendly and rarely call for bizarre and unusual ingredients. There's nothing more defeating than finding a recipe that you want to make that includes hacanahaha.

ROTFLMBO!!! TOO funny! :D

Kelly, I know you've already ordered the book...but I thought I'd throw this in too for others who may be feeling/thinking the same thing! http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=21157&

I give up. What's hacanahaha?

Pierre, hacanahaha is the ultra rare bloom from the plant canaha. Canaha only bloom south of the equator, in November, and only once every 14 years. The hacanahaha, when eaten, can spontaneously cause your body to excrete 100 dollar bills.

Or...

It's a word I made up and use when I can't pronounce something. Say it out loud....it's fun to say. :D

Alissa’s book and DVD is all I use now for my recipes. Other books pale in comparison.
