I was thinking about fasting from when I go to sleep 10ish till 4pm. I normally stop eating around 9 at the latest. So this will be 16hour fasts for 5 days out of the week. after 4 I can eat all the raw I want. Will this type of fasting accomplish anything? THanks for the advice.

What happens after 4? What is it you're hoping to accomplish? You say you're starting again for the 3rd time? Why'd you not stay raw the first two? Seems to me, putting restrictions on eating raw is the last thing to do.

Fasting is a complicated process in my opinion. If you have a goal in mind, why not just make it to eat raw foods? It's simple and heals from within!

It'll give your system a break, however if you don't completely fast then it'll mess up your metabolism and you may be likely to eat more than you should. Hence weight gain. It's one of those things where you should either eat raw small meals throughout the day OR fast IMO.

I read somewhere where it was good if you could fast for 12 hours everyday then its like fasting for half a year if you do it for a year. I know its not the same as fasting for continuous days. I'm hoping to be able to build up and be able to fast longer than that. the longest fast i've done is a day and would like to go longer. anyways the reason i haven't stuck to raw is b/c its hard! i love it and love the feeling but its just hard to stick to...I'm trying

The thing is, you're making it more difficult by restricting it imo. Why not just eat when you feel to, what you feel to? IMO (again) you're making it more difficult than necessary. Your choice, of course. :)

I know that I have read that the effects of fasting do not cut in until way after that and that short fasts were a waste of time.
Are you sure that you can eat enough between 4 and 9 to satisfy your nutritional needs for the day. It may lead to malnutrition if you can not and you do this long term.

Regarding fasting:It is not a fast if solid food is consumed.I did a 13 day fast about a month ago.It is called The Master Cleanse or the Lemonade Diet.It is what brought me to go raw. It's simple and safe, but like any fasts,it must be followed to the letter to avoid illness or ineffectiveness.I am going to repeat it next spring.Sort of a spring cleaning. It is not for everyone, but it will result in optimum health, and vitality. If you are considering this cleanse, please read,read,read.www.mastercleanser.com.Good luck.

As someone who is currently fasting, I'd just like to share that I personally do it for spiritual reasons and if someone is interested in fasting for cleansing concerns, I feel that simply eating Raw is kinder to the body. It may be the slow boat to China instead of a radical fast, but much, much safer. Fasting so often tailspins people into overeating or eating the wrong food. And that oh so sensitive metabolism....I wouldn't screw around with it. I've gone through phases of taking one day a week off of eating and thought that was great. Best of luck to you though!:)
