I am heading home to San Diego this weekend and was hoping to hit Neshama in Leucadia. Looks like Neshama is now the Greenery Raw Food Cafe. I was wondering if anyone down there has had a chance to visit it yet? Thanks! If not, I'll post a review next week when I get home.

Ok so I made it into the Greenery on my trip down south this weekend. Here is my review:

When you walk through the big wooden doors, you enter a very zen like space. Half of the Greenery's seating is outside, perfect for the beach locale.

Though the restaurant is open for lunch, all that is served during lunch is from the refrigerated deli case. At dinner time you order from the menu. I'm guessing what is served for lunch is what they had left from the previous dinner. I popped in while I was near by to grab some lunch to go. I got the pizza and the spring rolls. There are two types of spring rolls - each with a different sauce for dipping. I got the almond chille dipping sauce, which was great. The wrapper for the spring rolls is some sort of dehydrated coconut wrap....and the entire thing was delicious! I enjoyed the pizza toppings - especially the cheese. The cheese looked like unmelted mozzarella. However, I wasn't as fond of the crust, which was made with a lot of nuts. It almost reminded me of a raw foods pie crust.

The guys working behind the counter were very friendly and helpful (and cute!). I hear their ice cream is fantastic and the flavors they listed off for the day sounded yummy. Unfortunately I couldn't take it with me. I look forward to returning for a sit down meal on another visit down so I can enjoy the ambiance and try out the ice cream.

We ate there last night and LOVED it!!
The food was delicious.
We had a burger and spaghetti and meat balls.
Seriously, some of the best raw food my husband and I have had on our almost 5 month journey into raw food.
If you are in the area, be sure to check it out!

Went to The greenery Cafe for my one year rawversary. Really enjoyed the food and was floored by the strawberry crepes! I really liked their pizza too but it wasn't on a nut crust and I am so glad that their cheeze is made without nutritional yeast. Very nice people and very helpful. Will be going there again!

I ate there about a year and half ago. It's a very Casual Beachy Atmosphere and the food is simple and simply delis! :)

Have you tried 118 Degrees? That's in Costa Mesa and is more Dinner Elegant style and Super Yummilicious!

I still want to try Au Lac.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! Unless you want some skinny goatee wearing guy to look down his nose at you and treat you like a second class citizen... My wife and I have gone here a lot of times, but after the last couple of visits...NEVER AGAIN. Why should you spend your hard-earned money to have someone be so rude to you? BTW, don't pay with American Express, or he'll give you a hard time for it in front of your family or clients. We go out somewhere to eat and enjoy and relax, not to be harassed and treated like dirt. We figured we would just keep being nice and that eventually this guy would stop being a jerk, but nothing doing. My wife was very upset by the time we left there, and she turned to me and said "NEVER AGAIN." I have never seen her so bothered and upset. Thank you for a horrible experience. We went here to celebrate a HUGE milestone for us. THANKS.

Wow, "craigsakid," that is some post!

I see you have never posted here before. Have you been raw long? Gone to any other raw restaurants?

You mention that you have frequented The Greenery many times before, but you said nothing about the food. What did you think of it?

By the way, I have also been there numerous times and haven't had this happen. I know the owners. Melissa is a warm, caring, responsive person. I am certain that if you talked to her about your experience, she would be very surprised and concerned and would want to know that one of her employees behaved so egregiously.

I"m surprised you had such a bad experience. I would tell the Owner. I've only been there once. But, the Gal who runs it was really Nice. I think I would tell the owner so, they can improve on their Service. I"m sure they would want to.

I went Au Lac for our Annniversary on the 27th and It was Awesome!

Jen--Au Lac is such a great place, I am glad you went!
I feel SO BLESSED to live in Southern Ca and have Au Lac 30 minutes away, 118 degrees 20 minutes away and the Greenery an hour away.
Raw Food Resturant heaven around here! :)

Hi Terry,
Yes you are! I"m a couple of hours away from all them. But, worth the trip when I can make it. :)
