Does anyone have a recipe to make Alissa's fudge balls more truffle-like ... Her truffles are amazing, I know I can never get anything close to hers but something similar would be nice :)

I figured I could buy a larabar and kill my chocolate craving, but I didn't like the taste at all and ate like tiny bite before throuwing it away. Alissa's stuff tastes like real un-raw chocolate! It's the best chocolate I've EVER had!!

I love Alissa's Fudge Balls, I wonder if you add some coconut oil if they'd taste more truffle-like? Just an idea, hopefully someone else will have some good suggestions. Her truffles are just amazing aren't they!

So, what exactly makes a truffle a truffle? I mean, I've never had one (cooked or raw) so I don't know what the difference is between a truffle and any other raw, date-nut-type ball or fudge ball, etc.

Hi Rawkinlocs!

I think it is the creamy texture, melts in your mouth! Alissa's Truffles (from her store) are so creamy, I love to eat them with a warm mug of water with a bit of orange juice in it to melt them quicker! Like it is a cup of tea.

That is why I was thinking the coconut oil might produce that softer texture?

Ohhh okay, thanks Cinnamon! :)

Okay, now just so I can try and see if I recall such a texture...back during my SAD days, I used to eat those Rocher chocolates with the hazel nut inside...not sure if you've ever eaten those but would the texture be anything similar to that (the filling portion of it)? Just trying to get an idea...however I DO plan on ordering some of Alissa's truffles soon!

Maniac, I would use the recipe for the Dark Chocolate Ganache Tart from Raw Food Real World. It's outstanding and much like the ganache from a truffle.

It's not as runny as the Rocher chocolates. Think a little firmer but still creamy. Almost like when you scoop out coconut oil, it's hard but when you put a little in your mouth to taste it melts....that's what a real truffle tastes like.

I am addicted to date truffles. Carefully slice a date and take out the stone. Fill the date with a nut butter of your choice (I choose almond) and press back together. Then I coat the date in "chocolate" that I make from raw cocoa, coconut butter and agave. Put in the freezer for 30 minutes or more. Enjoy!!
