Since we are all in this together, I'm curious...

... do you find that there are certain raw foods which help increase weight loss, and those that inhibit weight loss?

I'm at about 14 days raw... within the first 10 days I had lost a flat 10 lbs, which I thought was fantastic - and now things seem to be stagnant, even as I fasted for two days (broke the fast today) to further cleanse myself...I am certainly not transitioning to raw simply to lose weight, but I would prefer not to plateau after having a great running start. Any thoughts?

any and ALL raw foods!!

to lose 10 pounds in 10 days is huge!! your body would burn out if it kept that speed up long term. this is a lifestyle, not a race.

just eat raw....

SOME and I must say SOME or it'll start another debate thing again, people find limiting (not eliminating) nuts if not all sources of fat increases weight loss. With that said, just raw itself will help weight loss as well as you detox the toxins in the fat where they're stored will decrease meaning the fat will melt away :) You have just begun so let your body heal :)

I too, would be interested in knowing which foods would be better... I know that all RAW foods are good and healthy, but if we knew which ones were better for cleansing/flushing, it would definently push us further towards our goal. I have a niece who has a bit of a weight problem and with me for the summer, she is really pushing herself to lose weight, drinking teas and such, and exercising alot. I don't think that this is a great course of action for a 14 year old. So, I have been trying to throw things at her here and there.

I would say stay away from nuts and too much fat for awhile. Eat more greens and fresh fruits. green smoothies, too! whenever I add them into my diet more, I tend to drop a few lbs and whenever I add nuts into my diet, I gain!

I think that juices are great for cleansing, nourishing, and definitely no fat!! ]

I will be watching this thread as I am way overweight and trying to lose and I lost 8 pounds in the first week of about 80% raw and now I'm STUCK and I'm not gaining, just not losing either.

I drink 2 green smoothies a day but I do also love avocado and nuts. I was doing E2L for a while and I remember a lot of them saying only an oz of nuts or avocado a day for speedy weight loss. I may try limiting that for a while and see what happens. But it conflicts with some people saying we NEED the good fats to rid the body of the bad fat. But maybe that's it? Limiting but still eating good fats. Just not as much?

You will just need to experiment. Some people can lose weight and eat lots of the right fats. Others can't. Some can eat a ton of food, others can't. You get the idea. We are all different and you need to find out what's right for you. :)

Avocado, nuts, and akaline water plus veggies = weight loss.

Quickly way to bring your body into akaline state is to drink alkaline water.

But again, you will have to experiment for yourself.

It's different for eveyone.

For me, The whole nut rule only applies if I try to eat raw only and sit on my butt all day. If I work out, balance greens/nuts/fruits in the day, then theres no problem. I know in the beginning, I stayed away from nuts. and didnt work out and only ate veggies and fruits, weight loss was slow for me. As soon as I got off my butt and took away the whole prior dogma of looking for a FAST solution to rid weight, and combined exercise/with raw EVERYDAY, weight started to fall away. Thas just me tho! Wippeee it's fun tho. When you drop the dogma, balance everything, dont depend on just RAW to be your savior like people do with medication, and combine it, with a healthy attitude, dogma free, balance, wisdom of what your eating, no fear, EXERCISE, and just fly with it, You will become an eagle.... It's amazing. Im having an amazing journey with it!

For me, when I first transitioned to 100% raw (this was almost two years ago & I'm working my way back up to it now) I just followed what Alissa said - eat - just make sure it's raw.

So I ate a TON of nuts, avocados, etc. I ate A LOT of fat in the beginning. But it was all raw. But I also ate a ton of fruit & HUGE platters of salad. And in a month's time, I dropped 12 lbs - this was without trying to cut anything out - without counting anything, etc. In time, I have noticed that I don't crave raw fats as much as I used to so I eat less of them. But I didn't sit there one day & say, 'well, I'm not losing weight. Perhaps, I should cut something out.' It just took its own course naturally. Plus 12 lbs was a lot in a month's time for someone who didn't need to lose more than 20 lbs. And I just kept eating raw - without trying to figure out what foods would help me lose weight, etc. - and I lost an additional 5 lbs the following month.

A 10 lb loss is a GREAT running start & perhaps your body might need a rest from such a rapid loss & then it will eventually decide it's time to shed pounds again.

I wouldn't worry too much about cutting something out in all honesty.

Just eat raw & things will just occur naturally - without you having to do anything.

And make sure you do some type of exercise most days of the week, too.

For me, I tend to lose more weight during weeks where I have a lot of green smoothies. I tend to gain weight when eating non-raw!:D
