Help!

I have these great looking garbanzos I sprouted, and no recipes to make with them!

Anyone have any great chickpea dishes?

Thanks all!
Abby

Hummus! Personally not a fan of raw chickpeas and make my hummus with zucchini instead - but here's a recipe.

1 c. chick pea sprouts
2 lemons or limes, juiced
3 cloves garlic
4 T. raw tahini
2-4 T. Raw Oilve Oil or Sesame Oil
Celtic sea salt to taste

Optional: 1/2 tsp. ground curry, corriander, cumin, basil, chives, paprika, cayenne pepper or 1/3 C. Raw Olives or Raw Sundried Tomatoes (soaked in 6 oz. water and drained)

Blend all of the ingredients. Add water or sesame milk to thin.

No prob. Some people blanch them in boiling water to abate the bitterness. Not raw, tho.

Off to enjoy the sunshine!

Whenever I sprout chickpeas I just eat them "like popcorn". I don't know if I'm just really weird for doing this or if other people would enjoy it too, but it tastes nice and yummy to me. :)

Good luck!

I use them to make crackers as I prefer the zuchini or cashew hummus.

I sprouted chickpeas! NOW... throw them in the compost!!!;)

You could really season them with spices so you can't taste them as much, then throw them onto a nice salad with many other tasty ingredients and a good flavorful dressing.

You can also do some raw Indian dishes with them, if you like Indian food. A raw masala or something...

Mmm. Indian food.

Exurb- That made me laugh! It's kinda true, sprouted Chickpeas are no substitute for cooked! That's okay though!

Thanks for the good ideas everyone, I made some hummus (from Beckla's recipe), which was totally edible, but I don't think I'll sprout them again.
LOL ;)

RawVee- I love Indian Food!!! mmmmmm masala mmmmm

Thanks Guys!

does anyone have a picture of what they are supposed to look like sprouted? i haven't sprouted them yet and am wondering what to look for afterwards. alissa has a great sprouting guide but i'm a little clueless in this area. i know they have to soak for about 12 hours i guess or overnight, but then it says they need to sprout for 3 days...what should i be looking for and what do i actually eat..the whole thing that is sprouted or what????

Thanks:)

When they have tiny tails they are ready. I would not sprout them for 3 days, or even 2! Mine had a moldy taste and I had to throw them out the last couple of times I sprouted. From now on I am just going to sprout for one day.

I love this recipe I got from a raw food place I worked at. The down side is that it has a lot of oil.

Veggie Hummus

Step 1
1-2 carrots
1-2 celery stalks
1/2 red onion or less
1/2 bunch parsley
1) Mix the veggies in a bowl so that they are evenly distributed and set aside

Step 2
2 1/2 c sprouted chickpeas
1 1/2 c ex. virgin olive oil
1/2 c fresh squeezed lemon juice
2-3 garlic cloves depending on the size
sea salt to taste
black pepper to taste

1) Add the ingredients to the food processor
2) Put 1 handful of the veggie mix in the food processor also
3) Blend
Note: You may need to add more oil to have the texture of hummus :D

I personally LOVE chickpea hummus, raw.
I make it with black tahini, and it's great!
