If I was to just drink water that is a fast.

If I was to just drink juices, is that technically a fast or a cleanse?

If I was to just drink smoothies, is that a fast or a cleanse?

What about mono fruit?

Thanks for the info.

Cleansing - is anything that cleanses the body, or cleans it out. The raw food diet as a whole is cleansing. There are herbal cleanses you can buy and do. Fasting means giving up solid food and living on fiberless liquids and is totally cleansing, juice or water (note: water is not recommended unsupervised for longer than a few days - you really should be checked medically daily and on bed rest). Juice fasting is a great fast AND cleanse. So is green smoothie fasting (technically not a "real" fast because it's full of fiber, but still a liquid fast). Mono fruit is a great cleanse. Fruit is generally considered "cleansing", greens are "building" (to eat whole, that is). It is just not a fast. Who cares? Remember health is the goal. Over time, you can experience all of these!

Read Steve Meyerowitz's book, "Juice Fasting and Detoxification". It has alot of great info and the how to's of fasting. I am starting an every other day juice fast today for a couple of weeks to speed up my cleansing.
