View Full Version : Anybody every tried making a Raw Buttertart?
In my mind there must be a way to mimic that, even a little. Couldn't the butter be replaced with raw coconut butter? Raw pecans. Honey or Agave nectar? And a dehydrated almond flour tart shell?
Anyone tried something like that? I think I'll give it a go sometime.

What is this "raw buttertart" you speak of??????  Am I missing out on something fantastic?
Hmmm... buttertarts were born in Canada eons ago... so maybe that's why no one here has really bothered to find a raw version of them....LOL. SAD buttertarts are to die for. I really want to see if I can make something like it into Raw. I'm a real novice when it comes to 'specialty' Raw though. I tried and tried to just make 'potato' chips with both raw potatoes and with zucchini and both sucked. I just can't afford to waste tons of food/money trying things out. So I like to see if anyone else has tried stuff before I do...LOL.

Can you describe these?
The SAD version is made with a crisco pastry shell and the insides are a mixure of cornstarch, molasses and egg yolk. Some people put some raisins in the tartlette and then fill it with the cornstarch mixture...with pecans on top. And then baked in the oven..Yes...i used to make these A LOT!! :)

Shan I would start with a raw pecan pie recipe using the same goo and crust but putting raisins in and go from there.
