Has anyone eaten a raw bitter melon? I just bought one at the farmer's market today (I'm trying different veggies out) and I'm not sure if it will taste good raw. I've seen some cooked recipes on google, but not any raw ones.

Thanks!

I poked around on the internet and I couldn't find any raw recipes for it either. It seems that for most people it is too strong to be eaten raw. Have you tasted it yet? I have never had one cooked or raw.

It's extremely bitter. You may wanna be cautious blending it. An old classmate brought one in to school for us to taste.

Bitter Melon is used extensively in Indian cuisine. IMO you need to cook it. If you have a food dehydrator, it might be worth testing the waters. Try marinating in Indian spices and then warming it up in the dehydrator until it is soft.
