You've heard of green smoothies by now? If not do check out Valerie's blog! :D Now how bout some green ice cream for dessert? I can assure you that it is fruity & delish, not leafy tasting if done right! My fav so far is dandilion greens with frozen banana blended together. So simple yet so wonderfully refreshing! Mint is fantastic blended in too! I will edit in some pictures later. Do try it out and please share your creations here so I have new ones to try! :D

Sorry to bump this very old post, but tonight I got the bright idea - "green ice cream!"
Of course, I did a search first and that's how I came to this post. But I've looked all over Valerie's summer 2006 blog entries and can't find this recipe! I would love to have it or anyone else's ideas on green ice cream. If not, I'll make up my own and share!

Does anyone use a cuisinart ice cream maker or just use the blender and freeze it after or use frozen ingredients and blend them? I have made "ice cream" with frozen banana's and Kale and other ingredients in the blender before for green ice cream but I've heard of "vice cream" and people using the cuisinart ice cream maker and I'm VERY curious about this. Anyone have any info? Thanks

What's the best way to make ice cream WITHOUT bananas if you're not a big banana fan? Thanks

I would use Almond milk as a base if you are not a banana fan or you could use hemp milk..either really
If your in a rush make instant -- almond butter + water in high speed blender
Or half hemp half cashew if your going for CREAMY
then add whatever fruit or flavour that you want eg/ cacao, goji, vanilla, ginger, fresh berries, mint, green tea..whatever you fancy!!

New here... new to raw.... 4th day raw, actually.
I think this would be great for me because I have a difficult time drinking things besides water in larger quantities because it makes me sick for some reason.... I made a green smoothie the other day and it was good just hard for me to keep drinking. I am going to try this!

dnicolemont, I'm fairly new (will be starting raw tomorrow) I've been reading up and I think you're in detox mode. I tested raw two weeks ago to see if it would work for me (I was 75% raw), and I went into detox. Nausea, a 4-day headache, diarrhea that lasted 3 days, tiredness/weakness - the works! The only thing that truly made me want to commit to it was the energy I had after drinking the green smoothies and the fact that it filled me longer (my hunger and craving for "bad" foods aka junk food - was GONE!) and a sorta clear brain feeling (I can't describe it fully, but it felt like cool water was running from my head down and like my brain was sucking in oxygen. ) It was the most amazing thing. My moods were different and even though I felt horrible, I was happy. (Shrug-go figure! it must be the RAW!!!) To top it off, I did a full day's worth of house cleaning in 10hours!! That's amazing for me! Since my daughter was born, house cleaning was literally IMPOSSIBLE!
The only remedy I saw was Storm and Jinjee suggesting that you eat rice with lightly steamed veggies. But DON'T do this if it'll throw you in a loop!!!
Search the forum to see if anyone has any detox tips that doesn't involve you eating cooked foods. Hope you feel better! Don't give up, you're doing great!!!:D

Well I actually got the book Vice Cream and I do have a Pure Indulgence 2 Qt. Ice Cream Maker from Cuisinart, but I haven't used it yet so I have to get back with you on that, but I really look forward to trying out the vice cream, a lot of it looks yummy. All you need is a blender and a ice cream maker and ingredients and you're good to go.
