I saw it recommended on some raw food guru's site and did a search on this forum, but couldn't find anything about it.

It said it would help absorb the toxins, so the point of taking the charcoal was to ease the body's burden while fasting/detoxing. I was just wondering if anyone has tried it, and if so, with what results?

Oh, btw, it also said you could use bentonite clay for the same reasons.

I know charcoal is one of the best filters and cleansing agents. The Koreans use it in their toothpaste, it filters water, and nuclear, biological, chemical suits are made of it...but as far as ingesting it? I am sure there is info on the Internet. You have aroused my curiosity. Time to Google. :)

Look under step four for info on both:

Apparently you can buy activated charcoal in capsule form. I had no idea. Seems like it was somewhat common though.

1. Activated charcoal

Activated charcoal binds intestinal toxins and unfriendly microbial growth and excretes them in the stools. 500-600 mg three times per day 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals and medication.
