I was just wondering how you eat corn as a raw food? My mom always boiled it but boiling isn't "allowed" while eating a raw food lifestyle ... Can you just eat it cold?

I do, it doesn't taste much different to me raw than it does cooked...still sweet and yummy. I know there are recipes for raw corn chowder and dehydrated corn chips out there. I haven't tried either though. I like to take avocado and tomato and blend into a soup with corn cut from the cob mixed in after it has been blended. You can add garlic, sea salt etc. to taste. Yum.

I like asparagus better raw too!

Make sure you get sweet corn, I tried some other corn from China Town, looked similar- was called corn, stuff was TERRIBLE! I recomend cutting an avocado in half and smearing it on your ear of corn, then sprinkling it lightly with herbemere or just sea salt! YUM.

1) Peel away husk.
2) Put cob in mouth
3) Bite down
4) Move cob one inch to left
5) Go to step 3. If you run out of cob, just rotate and start a new row.

Really, these things aren't complicated! :D

Oh, and smeared avocado DOES make it 10x better!

I love raw corn on the cob. Tastes the same.
And all corn dishes.

But corn is fungal, I never consider it truly healthy, sorry.

What do you mean when you say corn is fungal?

Robert Young goes into this in his legendary book, Sick And Tired: Reclaim Your Inner Terrain. Corn is fungal. I think it has to do with the husks/moisture. Anyways, this is a link, not sure if it's the best one. But it has killed horses before. I'm not trying to be an alarmist, I can bring SICK AND TIRED to work tomorrow and type from it for you all since I wuv you all so much....

I never liked corn on the cob. Never much liked canned or frozen corn. I could eat a few bites but it didn't taste too good to me. Raw corn tastes great though! My daughter loves it straight from the cob. Again, I don't like to eat it that way. Sticks in the teeth and too messy for me. I just cut the kernels off the cob with a knife and eat them. Sometimes I'll mix in some lentil sprouts, peppers, onion, tomato, etc. But really I prefer it plain with a touch of salt.

I agree that pic with avo smeared all over it looks really good!

I cut mine off the cob and mix in salsa/pico de gallo and chunks of avocados.

I also mince it in the FP, add onion, salt, pepper and some ground flax seed to make tortillas in the dehydrator.

I'll have to try the olive oil in the dehydrator too. Yum!! :D

Mmmmm reading this thread, I had to jump up & make some corn on the cob to eat! I smear a tad bit of coconut butter on it and sprinkle some sea salt, then stick it in the dehydrator for about half an hour. It's nice & warm and yummy. Of course, I couldn't wait that long so I just had it as is, cold & still delicious. :D

RawVeganMom,

My lunch today was two ears of sweet white corn smeared with avocado--very very good. Thank you for sharing the idea. Summer is looking a whole lot better.
