Hello.
Teccie question here hehe looking on ebay for dehydrators here in the uk they are pretty much £70 minimum , most 95-119 ( british pounds)

While from USA sellers despite $40 odd shipping costs I could pick one up for around £40 or less ive figured.!

Would this plug in and work fine here in uk?
I mean sorry this sounds dumb but do you have the same pin sockets
i mean 1 at the top 2 at the bottom or whichever way you look at it

sorry i honestly dont know :p i know it sounds really silly but i wouldnt want to get one and not be able to plug it in !
Because it would be great if i could pick one up for such a low price , here its such a rip off

No, we have different plugs in the US (see wikipedia file below). Our plugs are flat like slits while yours are round.

US is Type B

Also, our sockets in the US are (I believe) 125 volts while I think yours are around 250 volts. I don't have too much knowledge on this subject so hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in!

I haven't been to the UK, but I definitely know that we have different plugs/sockets than the ones in Germany. However, I do believe there are converters you can buy. I'm not sure where, but they're out there, if I'm not mistaken.

Rossk,

Okay I've been to England and your plugs are different from the US and Canada. If you go to Excalibur (www.excaliburdehydrators.com) they have international ones for sale but I think they might be more expensive.

Also like Random Violin Guy mentioned you can buy travel socket kits. That's what I used in England. I don't know though about using them long term.

Hi Rossk,

One of my clients shipped her US vitmix over to use here, so I assume she is using a convertor. I'll check for you. Or you could email excalibur or check with Alisssa as she is bringing a dehydrator out very soon.

Let us know how you get on as other UK buyers may be able to save bucks too, just don't forget the import duty - they won't deliver untill it is paid in most cases.

heh, that's pretty cool. I've never traveled outside of north America and had never seen all of the different kinds of plugs. They seem so strange after having looked at our plugs for 35 years. LOL

Hi UK people!

Rossk.

I have an Equip dehydrator which I have hardly used only because I have tended to eat more salads and fresh stuff.

I live in Wallington, Surrey (a couple of miles from Sutton) and would be glad to part with it for about £60 (buyer collects). I paid £120 for it about a year ago. It is a UK version bought from a UK supplier so plug is fine. It is in very good condition as not used much.

I know what you mean about prices in the UK for Excalibur etc - about £250 I think and the Vitamix in England is approx £400. (I did save up and buy a Vitamix and use it far more than I did the dehydrator.)

Please contact me if you are interested - I think my email address is in my profile.

Regards.

Tracy
