the health market has "organic Raw Tahini" next to the almond butter and such, what is this?

Is it like a nut butter?

Kat, it's not very good all by itself( tahini) but great IN things, like dressings, smoothies and halvah etc. My favorite use for it is halvah, which is 1 cup raw tahini, 1 and a half Tbsp raw carob and raw honey or agave nectar to taste, sometimes I add vanilla. Spread in a dish and chill so it firms a bit. Yum!
( i know you didnt ask, but oh well..lol ;) )

Hello Kat,preper yourself for a short lecture:i'm from Israel and over here Tahini is a basic part of many dishes.it's called t'hina which means "grind".it's grinded sesame seeds we're talking about.but!!!! it's mostly made of roasted seeds. if you've found raw tahini-go for it i say!!!! the classic way to eat it is-mixing it with an equal amount of water(1 cup basic tahini with 1 cup water for instence)since it's very very concentraited.all the rest is to taste-lemon juice, crashed garlic, thinly chopped parsly and salt.you can pour a bit of olive oil on the top and sweet-paprica as well.
good luck!
