When I wanted cocoa (I think I posted it in a thread once..)

I blended a handfull (or more) of cashews with cacoa powder and stevia, but you could use agave. I blended it really well, and just drank it cold.
But you could probably use warm water in the first place.

Oh, water too, of course :)
Hope you got that. It was very eye-balled...I'd do maybe 1/4 cup nuts with 1 - 1 1/2 cups water. Or to whatever thickness you'd want.

Yeah, my kids had me making hot chocolate for them this winter...

about 1 c. cashews
1/2 tsp. vanilla (or you can use vanilla bean)
cacao powder...maybe about 2 TBS. or so - however much needed to make it to your desired level of "chocolatey-ness"
agave or even dates (or other sweetener) to taste
and as SmilingRawDancer said, enough water to make it the consistency YOU like (creamier or thinner).

I just blended in the Vitamix until it was nice and warm/hot'ish

has anyone done this with the nutmilk only...just wondering because i think my blender would leave the cashews nutty and not liquify very well

I have...it works! I mainly do the cashew/water thing when in a pinch with no nutmilk on hand...but I have also successfully done it with nut milk too! But also try soaking the cashews first to make them softer where they will blend in your blender. They're pretty soft and without the skin that almonds have...so try it out with a little and see how it goes!

One other thought...maybe grinding the cashews into flour first in a coffee grinder (if you have one) and then blending that in water, etc.

Thanks Rawks...
I forgot about my coffee grinder...the next time my nieces, nephew and I are visiting with grandma and grandpa we might just make some...it's like walking around inside a refrigerator in their house - they keep that air conditioner running:)

You know what someone told me, was that when they want Hot Drinks, they purchased this really cheap CUP WARMER from Walgreens, that you plug in, and just applied the glass on the thingy, and they paid close attention to it, to make sure it didnt get too hot, but said the measured it and made it really nicely warm and even tooks its temp to make sure it wasnt too hot so that they were drinkin a fresh cup oh dead. So Im not sure if that helped lol!

Rawkinlocs,

Thanks for sharing the hot cocoa recipe. That was my favourite drink before going raw.
