Ok...yesterday I was a maniac in the kitchen.

I got on a cleaning spree and then deceided to sprout stuff. Currently I have the following started: mung beans. red lentils, garbanzo and quinoa. My husband came home from a short day at work and thought I was whipping up a feast for hundreds! DH also ate his first totally raw meal last night for dinner. He gave it a 6 out of 10...he said he needs me to make more dishes so he can continue the study....HA! We had "Mexican" night which was like this:

--raw jicima "chips" with cayenne pepper sprinkles and fire guacamole ( lots of heat from chiles)

--sweet potato and zucchini threads(noodles) with spicy(too spicy) chocolate mole sauce (mole sauce taken form "RAW FOOD real world, pg198)

--mango-banana ice cream with dates and orange juice

DH commented on how nice it was not to have to cook anything and how he doesn't have to do the dishes anymore!

I was proud of him. Tonight I'm not sure what's on the menu but tomorrow night it is "Middle Eastern" night. Hummus, baba ghanou, and whatever else I think of creating.

Anyone know what's up with all the tahini missing from the store shelves??

really annoyed:mad: !!!

Way to go rawgreenyogini-
Just keep on rawkin' in that kitchen and you are going to whip up something that makes proclaim a "10"

I don't know what's up with the tahini in your area...it's still on the shelves here. I don't know if I can remeber the title of the thread, but there was a recall on a certain brand of tahini posted on this site. I'll see if I can find it...

here's the thread about the raw tahini being recalled:

http://rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=27572

maybe you could ask the local store owner if that's the reason why.. mmm?

Thanks Lavendar for the info on the recalled Tahini!

However mine is a different brand...pause...rejuvenative foods. This brand is usually kept in the "cooler" section. The store I purchased it at told me there was a recall on Tahini...but there was not a note posted anywhere on the shelves where they stock the product. How is the poor consumer supposed to know what the %$&% is going on!!!!!

sorry for the profanity...I miss my carrots and tahini:(

Yogini: Have you made raw baba ghanoush before? I have been wondering about it, guess I should probably just break down and make it, but what do you think of it?

Your jicama chips, are they cruncy? I've been wondering about this as the squash chips don't get hard, but chewy, and the jicama garlic bread is a much better consistency. I could do sea salt and vinegar jicama...oooh! YUM!

And if you perfect raw baba ghanoush (sp?? lol) I will love you forever and ever....

The jicima "chips" were raw...I guess I should have mentioned it. I had to call them "chips" for the hubby...psycological thing for him.

I have tons of cooked recipes I am in the process of converting.....when they come out perfect (always an optimist!) I will pass them along. Right now I am converting my huge 400 page Indian "cookbook"....!!!!!

wish me luck! :)

I came accros a blog with Indian recipies a few weeks back. The samosas were amazing. I served them to a non-raw friend who thought they were great. The link is below...

I can see that you've got your creative juices really flowing.. that's a great idea you have, converting your cookbooks...

Can't wait to see what kind of things you come up with

I used to convert all my meat recipes into vegan/vegetarian recipes all the time. Now it's just a little different. No cooking...ok...use the brain, what would "simulate" cooking or the consistancy of something being sauteed on the stove. It's challenging but loads of fun. In reality, the spices will stay the same...the dish will not longer be it's mushy cooked self, but alive and raw rumminess...if that is even a word! lol!!!!

I’ve been thinking about doing the same thing, converting recipes. Not a whole book though! That’s how I came up with the carrot cake cookies I made last night and they were awesome. I’ve only been raw for 31 days, I’m on day 32 and I’m finding the recipes are good but I need some more and more familiar ones too. I’ve never eaten much Indian food but I’ll take your word for it and when your recipes are “perfected” I’ll be right there with everyone else trying them! :p I just tried Tahini the other day for the first time and it’s the brand on the recall so I need to go home and check the date. :o

I haven't started on converting yet. I get crazy in the kitchen making sauces, crusts, dips and freezing them. That way I just pop it out, let it natrually defrost, or use dehydrator and eat. I also always have some sort of veggie salad mixture made up in the fridge, and as always fruit!
