I'm having some trouble trying to choose a blender and i don't know if paying 300 plus for one is really worth it. So which in your experience worked the best ?
please vote :)

I have a cheap $20-$30 dollar oster blender from walmart, and it actually works really great! In fact, I'm chugging on a tomato, celery, green onion drink right now (I was craving salt, lol) and it's perfectly smooth. The only thing it doesn't blend down completely is kale, but it DOES blend up really fine in there. I'm sure one day I'll get a vita-mix (at a garage sale, ebay, craigs list - something place CHEAP, lol), just to see what all the hype is about, but I'm in no rush to shell out so much money when something this cheap works so well.

It does really good with nuts, too.

I voted Blendtec because that is what I have. I tried VitaMix and I like the BlendTec better.

Also, you have Ktec down there for voting too. The BlendTec and Ktec are the same thing. :D

I voted for BlendTec because that's what I have. I would have voted for K-Tec too since it's the same thing, but could only pick one!:D I can't speak for Vita-Mix hwoever, but I am sure you would be just happier than heck with one of those as well. I can assure you that powerful blenders like these make all of the other blenders out there look like hand-held beaters. I used to think I was doing OK with my old blender until using the BlendTec. There is NO COMPARISON!:p

ETA - This is not to say you can not use a regular blender, I did for a couple months. If my BlendTec broke down, I would save up for a new one.

I love my Vitamix! I have the professional series and this machine is a work horse for me. I use it numerous times each day and it always works like a charm. Now I've not used any other brands so I can't help with a comparison.

I have a $30 Sunbeam and a $$$ Blendtec.

I had only used the Sunbeam (only) until I tied our Blendtec for the first time. The Sunbeam one is good, but the Blendtec is GREAT. It blends so much better than my cheapie blender. I like fruit smoothies with ice so that makes a huge difference.

I will still use the Sunbeam one for dressings and liquids, but for harder veggies, nuts, ice, etc I will use the Blendtec.

I've been using an Oster 10 speed. It costs under $40 and it is powerful enough to chop big ice cubes. It does a good job on frozen fruit and veggies too.

I have a Vitamix 3600 that I bought on ebay used for $140...I like it a lot because it makes 64 ounces at a time....I had been using a 30 year old Hamilton-Beech and it worked really well and blended everything very smooth...I could put ice cubes in that one, too.

I'm glad I have my Vitamix and I'm also glad I didn't spend any more then I did on it....

One of the guys on here uses a hand held mixer for his smoothies and it serves him well...soooooooooooo, it's about how much you can or are willing to spend. I know most people swear by their high speed blenders and though I like mine fine...I did get good service from the other one, too.

I have K-Tec AND the V-M. LOVE my V-M!!!!

btw ~ if you do a search here, there are about 1000 threads asking this same question. Whether you go with either of the above, $300 (and more) is worth it for quality.

And yes, K-Tec AND BlendTec are the same.

Oops i guess i didn't know they were the same thing :)
I really want to buy the expensive blender and according to most replies blendtec seems the best so i guess i'll just have to save a while.

Ummm, 42% voted for the VM. Then again, I guess you're adding the BT and the KT together, eh? LMAO Doesn't mean it's the best, just means that more people voted who have them. Confusing, eh?

Check other threads on this topic then you can REALLY be confused.

My Vita Mix is just indespensible. However, what I did was buy a cheapy blender from Wall Mart or whatever. I used that as I saved for a VM which was 500.00 because I bought the dry container, too. So, it was more then just buying the one blender and container, which is probably alot cheaper?

The cheapy (15.00) blender is no comparison to the Vita Mix... I really apreciated my VM once I finally got one...believe me, it's worth every penny and then some:D It is really a workhorse in the kitchen.

I wondered about a K-Tec, too, and decided on the VM because of their years of being in the business, which says alot, and their customer service is great. K-tec just doesn't have the years behind them and the reputation to back them up, as does the VM.

A voted for Vitamix. I have the Super 5000 with the extra compact 32 ounce container which I use all the time in not needing to mess up the bigger container with smaller amounts of food. I LOVE the little container, so cute! I did the payment plan through the company.

I knew I wanted the variable speed because I was spoiled on that function from my previous blender, the Infinity Blender by VillaWare (which is also a good blender but Vitamix is awesome!).

I can't compare the Vitamix to anything except the Infinity Blender by VillaWare (and some other old Hamilton blender that use to work my nerves in not being able to blend a smoothie without 10 minutes of aggravation!) but the Vitamix is exceptional in smoothing out and blending food.

I am the type of person that doesn't like to agree that a "brand" is way better than others (oh, come on, its just a brand name anyway, there's other way cheaper stuff up to its level right?!?) but I was wrong... I feel so lucky and blessed to have a Vitamix in my kitchen!! Ahhhh, life is grand!

LOts of good information on the blenders. I have a smoothie maker(grandaughter talked me into it) which is suppose to blend ice also but u can smell it getting hot when i do this. I made a smoothie two days ago with my food processor and boy did it make a dif. Everything got chopped up real fine and when i drank it it had the texture of melted ice cream. Yummy. I would guess that the better blenders would do the same which sure makes a dif on whether one likes smoothies or not.
I noticed a thread on 400 watt blenders being the best and have found some that r under $100. Now if a 400 or more is the way to go it might be the way i go. I did watch a video on the Blend tec and was amazed at how quick it ground up seeds. On for a few seconds and then off and the seeds were chopped up.
So if u r confused then i must be more so as u can tell by my posting. LOLOL I just know i will not buy a cheap blender and expect good things to come out of it.

I love my vita mix and I use it for large amounts. It's a dependable blender.

I am totally in love with my magic bullet...for about $50 it makes a great green drink in no time and it is blended in the actual glass...good to go!

I do so much raw stuff with my magic bullet. I love it, love it, love it:D

You can do a youtube search and see how many other rawfoodies use it too.

I've experimented a bit with blenders but I have one limitation (well, not really a limitation :D). I live alone and made small portions since I try to eat mini meals, so I was looking for a personal blender rather than a regular size one. One that's worked well for me is Hamilton Beach. You can find them at Walmart, Target, etc.

Recently went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond with my mom and bought a Magic Bullet for $60 but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. I've heard good things about it, though.

I was fortunate enough to get the Mac Daddy Vitamix 5000 as a gift from my parents recently...I must say that it makes raw life MUCH easier!!
My husband (not raw) loves how smoothly it blends his protein shakes.
It cleans up really well too! Don't have to take it apart like my last blender (as long as you're pretty quick to wash it up after each use so stuff doesn't gunk up)

Vita-Mix all the way!

I have the Vitamix professional series. everywhere I go, stores, restaurants, and bars are using the vitamix. they use one at my college, and when i went to puerto vallarta, mexico they used one there too. it makes amazingly smooth smoothies. i bought my blender for $500 off eBay. but i've seen the vitamix 4500 for $349 at Sam's club.

I have a 7 speed Waring Blender. I don't plan on getting the Vitamix anytime soon (way out of my budget range:eek:).

Will buy one in before the end of this year:D.
