My favorite for about the last week has been spinach, coleslaw mix, baby spring mix, a banana, apple (or orange), a big handful of blueberries, a small handful of cashews, some flax seeds, and lots of water so it is thin. Tastes something like purple kool-aid in a way. Kinda fun to drink.

i like my "green" smoothies to look green ;) so i usually don't put any berries. my favorite right now is spinach, peaches, mango, apple, and water...i usually put in some ground flax seed too.

Wow.... I am getting lots of ideas... I've never thought to use peaches or apples or even romaine lettuce!

My absolute fav is:
1 banana
1 Mango (or another banana if no mango)
Handful of Kale
Handful of Spinach
cup of frozen berries (whatever you like, I prefer strawberries)
hemp seed protein powder (optional)
ground flax seed (optional)

can you say Drinkable Nutrition and quite filling also!

i mix up the greens and fruits, but i love adding raw tahini, and goji berries! theyre more THICKIES than smoothies. love it. also hemp powder and flaxseed. and chlorella, but that realllllly takes some getting used to/covering up. lol.

i like to have one smoothie in the morning, just fruit &veg, &then a thickie later on. :) mmmmmmmm! i think ill have one now! (i was just farmers market shopping :D )

My favorite green smoothie is actually a recipe that Valerie Winters had posted and it has been THE #1 REASON I have been able to stop my cravings for non-raw food and it has curbed my appetite so much that I no longer eat a mid-morning or a mid-afternoon snack any more. THANK YOU Valerie Winters and here it is:

2 cups water (or the water and meat from one young coconut w/water added to make 2 cups of liquid)
2 bananas
1/2 bag of spinach
1 bag of frozen cherries

It is even great using the water and meat from one young coconut version and leaving out the cherries - the prettiest green color :)
I really have to say without a doubt that starting my day with a green smoothie has been incredible in helping me to succeed. I highly recommend it :)

I hear you Margi... I dont eat 2 bunches but I always have 5-9 bananas in a smoothie, more if they are smaller, because I add so many different greens! Banana Power! hehe

I generally have 2 to 3 bananas a day and don't have any problems with bm's from bananas. Maybe if I ate a whole bunch of them, but eating 3 in one day gives me no problems. I don't doubt that they can cause constipation, but I have personally lived eating 3 bananas per day with no problem, so I am fine with that. Your results may vary of course!:p

I just bought maca powder so I tried it out! We'll see how I feel!

I used:
1 1/2 - 2 bananas, frozen overnight
about 8 or 9 strawberries
3 handfuls of spinach
1 1/2 cups filtered water
1 tbsp agave nectar
coconut oil (maybe 1 tbsp?)
1/2 tsp maca powder

I drank one cup of it and I already feel refreshed.

My "typical" green smoothie is:

1 cup filtered water or 1 cup almond mylk
1 heaping tablespoon Pacifica Spirulina
1 heaping tablespoon Alissa's green food powder
1 heaping tablespoon Maca powder
blended greens - collard, spinach, beet greens, carrot greens, kale (about 3/4 - 1 cup full)
one peeled fresh orange and/or lemon
frozen fruit - pineapple or peaches or grapes
1 banana
squirt Agave nectar

I try to change up the greens ever so often, so I get a variety.

I agree as to the difference in me since drinking GS's. They are miracle drinks.
Read Victoria Boutenko's book - "Green for Life" - explains their benefits

Oh, I made a good one this morning - juice of 1 orange, 1 frozen banana, 1 cup of strawberries, 2 cups water, 1 spoonful of raw cacoa powder. handful of swiss chard and a little romaine. The orange with the chocolate was GOOD.

I’m so glad you liked it Fancy Nancy. If I had to pick one green smoothie recipe to have for the rest of my life it would probably look like this.

5 oz Spinach
4 cups frozen Mango
¼ yellow onion
2 cloves garlic
½ teaspoon flax seeds
2 cups water.

But lucky for me, I don’t have to pick one and I can make a different green smoothie recipe every day for the rest of my life. The one I’m drinking right now has 15 ingredients. Red leaf lettuce, Green leaf lettuce, Bell Pepper, Jalapeño Pepper, Celery, Onion, Garlic, Ginger, Flax Seeds, Dill Weed, Cilantro, Lemon Juice, Mango, Peaches, & Water. Yummy!

Hi Valerie,
I've tried to connect with you a couple of times before to THANK YOU for the delicious recipe but I don't think you saw my posts. I am forever grateful to you for your inspiration. I am extremely proud of you and very appreciative that I took up the green smoothie "challenge" which was a bit of a missing link in my journey. THANK YOU again and congratulations on how well you are doing on your own journey.
All the best to you from me :)

I created this tonight and I didn't see anything like it after a search, SO this is my new favorite!

3-5 scoops of honeydew melon
1 c of green grapes
1 c ice and 1/2 c water
1/4 c lime juice (adjust to taste)
handful of watercress
sweetner

this produces a beautiful green color, it's refreshing with zing! Enjoy!!

What I mean by good is, first not a neck choking price, secondly is the quality. I am in need of good retailer (for my home monthly stock) in PA especially for spirulina powder, royal jelly, bee pollen and maca but if they sell other good supplement also will be helpful. thanks for the info ..

constipation whaaat? i'm never constipated and i eat 1-2 bunches of bananas a day

I hope you are getting some real variety in your diet, in addition to all those bananas. I'm not trying to be a blow hard, but consuming two bunches of bananas with any regularity does not seem like it is likely a healthy habit esp. if you could be eating a broader variety of things instead. I've even read a part of the Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine book that basically classified bananas as a food to be eliminated from the diet for optimum health... something about them causing excessive amounts of bacteria in the blood, which makes the body acidic, etc, etc. Anyway...sorry.

I eat 6 7 or more nana's a day in a smoothie, with like 5 different heads, not handfulls of greens... I have never ever had constipation problems, always alkaline after eating them ( ph strips baby)...and I have been doing that for 2 years...:D

So noted about the PH - that book hasn't really got my trust.

I wasn't really thinking that they would def. cause constipation. I just know I wouldn't have room for a lot of other stuff in my diet if I was eating that many bananas in a day... so, basically, I was just thinking about variety and nutrition. Who knows, you could be three times my size:D

I gotta get me some of those PH strips:)
