Has there been any experiments where someone fed one group of mice or gerbils their normal seed and greens diet, and fed another group the same diet, but cooked it first? It seems like such an experiment would be really useful for raw foodists. I've heard of Pottinger's experiment with cats, but cats eat meat. And I know that raw foodists are healthier then most people, but most people aren't eating healthy cooked foods with very few grains. Most people are eating macaroni and cheese, buffalo wings and pizza. So it's open to speculation whether it's the food (fruits, veggies, seeds, nuts) or the fact that they're raw that makes a difference. Maybe some raw fooders would want to try this to prove to the world that it's the cooking itself that denatures food, and that's why a raw diet works, rather than the usual nutrutionists' blurb that it works because 'fewer calories are eaten, and more fruits and vegetables are included in the diet'?
I think if my son's allergies didn't preclude us raising gerbils, I might be inclined to trying such an experiment myself.
